I just bought car with 9.5 in. center with 4.1 ratio. I need a 4.3 ratio. So question is will my 9 inch center section fit in the same place as the 9.5 inch?

    rear

Yes as long as the spools are the same. That 9 " gear will work in the 9'5 I assume they are both pro gear. Pinnion supports may be different. If they are not the same pinion diam. hence Pro gear std. gear. Don

It will depend on the housing opening and brand.
If it's a stock Ford housing center, either big or small housing, it may not clear the ring gear. Everybody screws up the cut by guessing. Buy a Fel-Pro #2302 gasket from a mail order place (Summit), put it on correctly (it's marked Top/Front) and scribe the notches. Then cut carefully. The ring gear should clear the back lip without the gasket. Check with feeler gauge, do NOT try to pull down with nuts. You may have to drum sand that rear lip.
Then disregard what your pals say and USE the gasket w/ white grease, not the bullring style silicone, and never use elastic nuts.
Ooops, just realized your question is the other way around from the hundreds going the other way. Run it!

hello..just finished my 9 1/2 top loader it had a 4.30 9 1/2 in it and I wanted to change to a 4.10 but no luck in finding the 4.10 in a 9 1/2 so I just put in a pro gear 9in. it all went great with 0 problems..so if yours had a 9 1/2 in it then a pro gear will work because it is a big pinion as if I beleave all 9 1/2 inch stuff is big pinion..any questions feel free to give me a call Dave Lowe
