starter solenoid

    brand new tilton superduty starter on
    blown hemi 2 16 volt=32volts
    solenoid sticks and it blew the end off
    the solenoid then a electrical fire
    till jerry put it out
    installed new solenoid and it stuck
    1 time already
    is their a better solenoid for 32 volts
    thanks

    Duane ,are you triggering the solenoid with 12 volts and feeding the large terminal with 32 volts or are you triggering the solenoid with 32 volts as well?

    since i have been down this road, i guess i am qualified to give my 2 cents worth. get 2 12 volt batteries and run 24 to the big post on your starter, you should be able to start ANYTHING with this setup. you don't need any kind of adapter, or voltage regulator, etc. get 2 600 or larger cca batteries, hook them up 24 volts, and try it, you might be surprised. hope this helps

    go to grainger.com and get a 36 volt solenoid
    like what a golf cart uses

    Have started ours for years with 24v to big lug like Darren said..11.1cc 14:71 you just can't crank it for a long period of time..ran same starter for 3 years so far.....

    I start my blown small block on 24 volts. Powermaster starter, 24v to the solenoid. Works well, agreed, have to lay off and let it cool if you crank for a while. It'll get a tad hot in the diaper.
