Hey guys....what advice would you give for someone wanting to get into the hemi world. What's a good starting point as far as what to look for and what's the best for parts availability? I see a lot for like the 526 hemi's. I'm looking for something that will hold 1900 to 2000 hp no problem in a outlaw 10.5 car. Thanks for any input!

The most expensive and time consuming way to buy into the HEMI scene is to try to buy it one piece at a time. You will end up with LOTS of parts that do not fit. Because almost nothing interchanges. It is not like Chevy land.
I could go into the different deck heights, different cam journal size and locations lifter bank angles lifter bore spacing lifter diameters, different port sizes and locations, different rocker arm shaft and stand combinations to match the different valve angles in all of the different brands and types of heads and their different combustion chamber sizes and shapes then try to match that to the pistons that have to match the right rod length to the crank stroke. Well so far thats just the tip of the iceburg.
Your best bet is to buy a complete used engine Hat to Pan from one of the higher dollar teams that is buying the latest stuff new to replace what they are selling. Take it home and completely disassemble it. Inspect deburr and clean every single part replace anything that will not pass inspection. Then put it all back togeather again with NEW rods and bearings.
Get the BAE 4 or 5 heads and BAE or KB raised cam std deck block combination.
    Thats my two cents worth.
There was a big thread on this subject a while back I suggest looking in the old posts for it.

I agree with this idea, it will save both money and headaches.

I agree, especially when the learning curve will take a while. I've looked for that post, any idea what the subject was??

Also, we have access to a local top fueler that has a bunch of spares he'd like to sell. I know this kinda goes against what you guys just said so I thought i'd ask. Is that kind of a scary place to start considering the abuse those guys put their stuff through? I do have a guy who's trustworthy that is willing to help us get started, he's the one who suggested the used fueler parts....
