    Brooks

According to Brooks, length is the only difference.

Different forging, beam is slightly different, but the main forging length is longer to accommidate tall blocks.(NOT Pin distance)

    rods

What I am saying is when I called Brooks and asked them that question, i was told length is the only difference. If all else fails call brooks and ask them.

The only difference I can tell is that the 88 rod is forged smooth clear up to the pin boss, where the 65, stops about 2 in. from the pin, being machined the rest of the way. The 88's came out of a taller deck motor. Just wondering if the material was any different. Must not be.
    Thanks for the input guys.:)

Here are the 65 and 60 these are both
smooth up the to pin. And with out the proper tool
for measuring these, they seem to be same length. ?????

hey Vic, weigh them, that will tell you a ton. I would worry about running rod/piston combinations that weigh differently in the same motor. How would you balance it?

Take the rod's off the piston and mount two of them on the crank 1 65 and 1 60 and try to push the wrist pin trough the two rods if it fits there the same of not, DHAaaa and it look like the rods are differant in the pic. plus they will weigh differant so your balancing will be off too. Top pic the center rib is differant shorter to the big end

If you wanted to compare how they look to eachother,
    you would have noticed,
one says Brooks, and the other says BRC.
Thats not what the question was, if they look the same.
these weigh the same, i will mock them up and try the pin thing.
    thanks......
i am getting new rods and pistons anyways.
    but thanks for the input.

Just so you know the rods are balanced two ways first you bal the small end, the rod is put in a fixture for this part, then the whole rod is balanced, most are balanced to within 5 grams from the factory, then your engine builder or bal shop should bal them to plus or minus 0 grams, thats what you pay for, and thats the way i did them when i was building motors, as a mater of fact you should take the heveyest rod and make it the littest, then go from there, thats how you make extra horse power. ;)

Thanks Eli, and i am not trying to be a ass or sarcastic,
i just come across that way...LOL
i appreciate your knowledge, actually i will usually
take the lightest rod and match the rest to it.
    Same with the pistons.
All of this is, just some crap put together motor, that came
with my funny car, and it appears to be just a
    throw together deal......
    thanks
    Vic

    OK, here is the skinny,
The difference between the brooks 88 and the 65`s or the b-2`s
the 65`s are within standard stock lengths
the 88`s are min. .600 longer, same with the b-2s

now in my case the difference between the
brooks 65`s and the 60`s,..is 32 years, same length.
    the 60`s where a BRC 60, maufactured with a 2014 material
    32 years ago. The 65`s, 88`s, and b-2`s
    are a 7075 T-6 material.
