I don't believe that the spacer between the hat and the blower has anything to do with fuel atomization. The idea of the spacer is to move the hat further forward to smooth out the air flow transition between the hat and the intake area of the blower. In your case the design of the birdcatcher is real bad and the air flow makes two real bad bends as it goes from the top of the hat to when it comes into the top of the blower. I don't think that the spacer will do you much good in smoothing out the airflow.

    Spacer

I AGREE WITH MIKE ON THE ATIMIZATION PROBALY WON'T HELP TO MUCH. IF YOU ARE RUNNING A DRAGSTER GETTING THE HAT UP AS HIGH OR HIGHER THAN THE CAGE SHOULD HELP AIRFLOW INTO THE HAT BUT WON'T SMOOTH IT MUCH WE SELL A SPACER CALLED THE MAX SPACER IT MOVES THE HAT UP FOUR INCHES HIGH AND FOUR INCHES FORWARD. IT SHOULD HELP CREATE SOME VELOCITY INTO THE BLOWER. ON THE DYMO IT HAS PICKED UP THIRTY HORSEPOWER SO GOING DOWN THE TRACK AT 200 PLUS SHOULD BE EVEN MORE POWER. WE ALSO HAVE SOME NEW NOZZLE BODIES THAT DON'T STICK AS FAR INTO THE HATS OR PORTS TO TRY TO CLEAN UP THE AIRFLOW A LITTLE. IF YOU WANT TO SEE PICS OF DIFFERENT SPACERS CHECK OUT WWW.RBSSUPERCHARGERS.COM UNDER FUEL INJECTION AND ACC. WE ALSO DO A BIRD SPACER WITH A DIVIDER IN IT.

If your fuel pressure is low, adding a spacer of some sort wont help atomize the fuel any better. You do that with your port nozzles. If RBS has the bird with the divider, that would be the one to use. I've seen a 100hp increase on the dyno with that. Also keep in mind that the spacer that raises the hat 4 inches could create problems seeing the tree if you have a short driver.
