called lenco and they say they dont make a 24 tooth sun gear:confused: only 22,23,25 etc:confused: I came home tonight and pulled hollow shaft out of clutch pack and it has 24 teeth on each end and middle. so 91 ring gear, 24 sun gear =1:26 right? 15 teeth on planet gears also. so whats up? what is this for? will it work for me? am I checking it incorrectly? if this is correct how did this car ever run 7.30 with this 2 speed on numerous occasions? I am definatly lost now and lenco says I have the impossible. any help on this rather me being dumb or not is really appreciated. thanks howard Also has 68% engrave in several places, what is this?

If the trans is a CS1 it has to be a 68%. The only ratio with a 91 tooth ring and 15 tooth planet gears is a 68%. The sun gear is 62 teeth. A 24 tooth sun gear couldn't be big enough in diameter to even mesh with the planets if the ring is 91 teeth.

Sounds like your counting the splines on the shaft not the sun gear itself.

the 91 tooth is the highest lenco makes for a cs1 - which makes is a 1.68 1st gear. that is a steep drop off to a 1 to 1 for high gear. i run a 3 speed p-nut with a 1.80 1st, 1.44 2nd and 1 to high gear. i also have a 1.68 2 speed. the 3 speed has better 60' times and ets. the racepack shows less than 600 rpm drop off the 3 speed gear changes. the 2 speed noticeabley drops more rpms and thus loses et. the cs1 has a stronger reverser than the p-nut. if you can swing it, the 3 speed ratios are better and closer than a 1.68 1st gear cs1 2 speed giving you better ets, 60' times and tuning window. adding a 2nd case to your 2 speed is also an option to make it a cs1 3 speed with a lesser gear split/drop than the 2 speed.

OK, found my problem when I could not sleep at 3 am. Dannys right. On lencos website it shows the shaft as the sun gear. I finally figured out the sun gear actually allows the planets to revolve around it and it is still in the planatary set DUH:rolleyes: . I still got a lot more to learn:D It is a 1:68 first gear. With the old chevy set up with this gear the car would 60 ft 110 to 112 which I thought was good for a 3000# car, but I see some are reporting around 106 times. Do you think with the new Hemi my times will slow down with this gear? going to a 3 speed is not an option right now. Does lenco offer a 1:80 to 2:00 first gear on just a 2 speed? thanks again howard

I think you can get most any ratio for a 2 speed. Call Dave at Lenco and he will head you in the right direction.
