Super mag XI

Does anybody remember the Mallory Super mag XI? I have one with a big red coil, and want to run it on a blown alky funny car. Some say it will work and some say it won't. Leahy checked it out and it puts out 34 amps. Can anyone help with info on this mag? Thanks, Mike

 

I ran one of those mallory elctronic mags on an alcohol dragster, it worked fine when it wanted to work, but i had nothing but problems with it, i used different mags, different coils, different boxes always replacing the batteries thinking they were the problem, checked the wiring over and over, i actually ran 2 to start with, they might work for a couple of runs then 1 would die different 1 each time, no pattern to it, then i switched back to a single, would work fine one run then not work the next . Best thing i ever did was change to a pro mag 44 never had a problem since just plug in and play. Hey maybe i was doing something wrong but thats the experience that i had nothing but dramas.
