We are going to get a spragless converter for a Bruno Lenco cs2, its in a blown hemi top dragster capable of 5.8 or 5.9 in Denver.
does anyone have any input on COAN vs Chance?
I am told if they are built the same, COAN will give us about 5mph more.

First of all, if you really wanagofaster ditch the spragless idea.

Call Marty @ Chance and he'll tell you everything you need to know.

Coan makes some nice stuff, but if you take a moment and look at both billet converters side by side...ask yourself which one looks stronger.

Ask Dave Lowe @ second wind racing what he thinks. He just went from a spragless to a chance in his rail.

I will call them both. The deal is we keep ripping the sprags out of our converter when I pedal it. But I appreciate the info and
It will give me more questions to ask.

Yeah marty has a 10 element diode that's pretty mean. I never hurt the 5 element in our blown hemi. We just switched to the 10 element.

As said, I'd rethink the spragless idea. Marty convinced me to put his back into the convertor. He's making them for ProMods and not breaking. Glad I did.

I'd give transmission specialties a call,we use one of there converters in our tad over here, we've run 5.8s in our first season with a screw blown engine,we've run a best mph of 234,and a best 60ft of .95 on the transbreak at only 3500rpm,

Just to put in a word for Coan. Like Karl (BlownBudget), we run a screw blown hemi in the same class. We've run a best of 5.79 at 242, with a .93 60 foot, just foot braking it out of the hole. Never had any issue with the Coan piece. Didn't like the Chance converter we originally ran ....

We run a Coan COA-170230X. I've had no issues with it at all. As I run it in a bracket, there can often be a certain amount of throttle action on a run ....

The bracket is 6.00 to 8.99. So I normally lift by 1000' and have run 6.009. Best full quarter is 5.79 at 242, turning 8950 through the traps. Best 60' is a 0.93, foot braking it out of the hole.

Perfect because that's exactly were we should be. We also run T/D.

I'm quite happy to share data with you - it's unlikely we'll end up on the same track anytime :D

I can send you the Racepak data from our 5.79 run, if you're interested...

That would be great! We have sent our converters in to have some change made. But a comparison would be nice!

Send me your email address and I'll send you the file. Might be a little delay as I'm at Ennis this weekend, then travelling to Bakersfield (if it's dried out) via Oklahoma.

I'm also happy to share info with you,we had our transmission specialties converter made to suit our car,the 5.8s and 220mph + runs all came after we put the converter in,we go thru the traps at 8500 and shift at 7500,at the top end our converter is 1-1 with engine we use a 2 speed trans,4.29 rear gear,34.5 tyre,I will have to check my notes for low gear ratio, foot braking it at launch we get 1.02-1.06 60fts,on the transbrake at 3500 it went .95 best 8th we have is 3.88@198,I do run a power grid on ours and pull a few degrees out at the hit then ramp it back in till high gear shift then I pull sum out and leave it out to the finish line
    Hope this helps
