We weighed the same set-up longblock all aluminum billet crank/big chief style heads (intake to pan; dry-no oil) BBC today at 495#s, the Hemi Fathead (cast aluminum KB block) weighed in at 509#s. We were swapping to a hemi and figured at least 100#s heavier and were very happy with our results today. Information, we thought a few of you might want to know! THANKS and Merry Christmas-Jim from TN!

    bummer

What was your chevy block setup? Water? What was the deck ht?
We're switching to a billet hemi from a chevy and expect 60lbs lighter...We run a 10.7 all solid KB olds/chief and are switching to a std billet BAE 8.

10.2 BBC aluminum Brodex factory half filled block

This was my buddies BBC Brodex Block motor we weighed and it was half filled/or half water jacketed from the factory when made with aluminum and a 10.2" deck height block. It was 495#s on a set of real good LongAcre Scales, as a longblock with intake to pan with no oil in it, and we weighed the hemi the same way, same scales. My Hemi block is a Stage 10 cast aluminum KB block at 509#s, no oil-THANKS! Jim
