gap on butterflies

I was running .007 gap on a bird with hilborn barrelvalve. I've switched to a hilborn shotgun basically for the look. They said to have .016 gap. why so different ? 427 bbc 10lbs boost . the bird is 1.9 ci bigger than the shotgun.

 

Set your butteryflys where you had them on your last injector then set your bv at the same place as your other set up and then start it. If you have to then adjust the butterflys to get it to idle where you want it. Then make sure to reset your bv one more time back to where you had it. It you have more butterfly clearence with the same bv leak as before, you will be running leaner at idle and your motor will get hotter earlier.
