Has anybody ever tried a Crowerglide clutch in a full suspension door car? I run a pedal clutch now and just wondering if there would be any issue with a full centrifugal clutch?

Can't really find anybody who has done it, so that makes me wonder if its wise to do?

    Clutch

I can tell be the amount of responses it seems that nobody wants to touch that question. I researched this combo and the glide clutch is pretty much out. I have decided to stay with the pedal clutch. After phoning lots of clutch manufacturers I think I'm more confused than before. Basically I am getting many different opinions on what diameter disc as well as how many to use. Some say triple 10", some say dual 10", East/west even suggested a dual 9" with bronze floater. I'm a low budget racer so full titanium is out right now. I need some insight to make a good decision. Leaning toward a Crower Pro Sportman 10", but again dual or triple??

    Combo is:
BB chevy HH retro 2000-2400 HP 8000-8500 peak rpm
    Lenco 3 spd 2:08 1St
    2800 lbs Door Car
    4.30 rear gear

    Thanks for any advice

A 3 disc 10" crower would work just fine for you..

Actually I quickly came to the fact that a crowerglide was completly the wrong clutch for may application and scrapped the whole idea.

I would run a 3 disc 10" in that car. we run a Crower.....which are pretty easy to work on, and are readily available on the used market. you might also look into a Bob Molinari unit ( he was THE MAN at Crower for years) I would choose one of those 2, and go. hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking that 3 discs were the way to go as well. One more question, the people that suggested 2 discs to me had stated that 3 discs were going to cause more tire shake than 3 and I wouldn't be putting enough weight on the clutch with 3 discs. At the low RPM I plan to run(8000) the cetrifugal force wasn't there yet and with the less weigh it would be compounded. Is there any validity to this argument? I would think 3 would work better because there is more plate area, as well it seems that tuning should be more forgiving? Sorry that was 2 questions.

Ease of tuning is important because I have only a few yrs of clutch tuning under my belt and have a long way to go.

    Corey,
I am by no means an expert, and everyone will have a different answer to any clutch question you ask ....
my feelings are that you have more " forgiveness" with a 3 disc. you can make just about anything work.....with enough laps, money, etc. i used to run a dual disc 10" in our car. it seemed to me that i needed to be " on my set-up" alot closer with it as opposed to the 3 disc.
i also see what those people are saying about more shake.....but i think you can get around that. honestly, you really just have to try it and see. you can get a "small stand" 10" 3 disc Crower unit very reasonable on this site. i think i still have the stands and bolts to convert it to a 2 disc if you are interested. i can only talk from my experiences. if i can help, or anything just give me a call.

    Clutch

Thanks Darren, I really appreciate the wisdom, and I will put your number in my rolodex for when I get everything together. You can never have to many people to bounce things off of. Looks like its going to be a Crower 10" triple disc.

the crower 10" 3 disc are like the 10.5 pretty simple to work on and a very good clutch very adjustable once you get it where it needs to be depending on what your doing zero it out after every run are every couple of runs depending what your burning off of it but easy to work on
