I tried in vain to find this information too, Casey. I was also looking for height of the staging lights, separation of the staging lights, distance to the guard beam, and height of the respective lights down track. etc.
All I could find were "suggestions" nothing is set in stone, or if it is, it is not common knowledge. I am interested to know if there is actually a standard.

    call nhra tech

I called nhra tech in CA and the told me 38-40 ft on the startline to tree and 90" to middle of prestage bulb.

I'm sure they can answer your questions as well.

That's good info. I measured at three different NHRA tracks and all of them were different. The height of the tree and/or the distance away from the starting line directly affects the driver in the left lane in seeing the tree. Depends on the injector height too.
