Were aluminum main caps standard on KB's?

A guy today said KB never sent a hemi block out with aluminum mains, but my Stage 10 has em. Doesn't sound right, but I thought I'd ask the experts.

"A guy" might be wrong! Most all blocks went out with aluminum caps.

They tried steel caps, but the expansion rate was different, so they went back to aluminum.

All of the race hemi blocks, such as BAE, and TFX , sold today have aluminum caps.

On the KB block Order Form it gives the option of Aluminum or Steel main caps.

Mine always had Aluminum, but, with steel being an option I would assume that a block or two left the KB shop with Steel main caps.

Call Ken at KB if you need to know what your block left the shop with.

He tried to tell me my caps were either ductile iron or steel, I told him only if its that fancy new non-magnetic steel that weighs half of what regular steel does!

I'm pretty sure mine are stock, as they are all stamped with the same numbers as the block. It's just one of those deals where I'm new enough at this that I figured I'd better ask before I stuck my foot in my mouth and called foul on him. Now I'm ready if he brings it up again!
