Today's Torque Wrench

    Torque wrenches were brought up in the GRP thread. The WB wrench from Australia peeked my interest. Another that I have been mulling over is the Snap On Techangle torque wrench. I resist some electronic based tools because of doubts about their life span but it sure looks worthy.

    Any of you boys use one of these snap on's on your hot rod or in your daily work?

    Dave, I use a Snap-On QT3R250. It has no springs so it stays more accurate longer. I still get it checked but it is always accurate and never has needed adjusting. It is also 25" long so it has plenty of leverage when under a car.

    Torque wrench calibration

    Was following this thread and the other GRP one and wanted to find somewhere to send a torque wrench for calibration.

    Up to 250 ft-lb click-type torque wrench costs $35. for calibration.

    I took my torque wrench to a snap-on dealer and he checked it. it was +10% off at 100 lbs. that means when I torqued my rods at 90lbs they were set at 99lbs:eek: time to check afew things. luckly I only have 4 passes on them. best of 203mph at maybe 8500rpm shifts. ahould be ok. and it seems to move around when we did repeated clicks. I ordered a new digital. will see how close it is. the old one will be used for the clutch. hmm set at 82lbs should work, and Im not so concerned about acouple lbs on the hat.
