Obviously you don't know Chris, or you wouldn't be making the foolish statements about him that you are. He is very knowlegeable about Alcohol Funny Cars and drives a Nostalgia one now. You don't remember the Gerber family that owned the funny car that Mark Thomas drove for years? Same family that you are ripping on. I know Mark as well, and privately and publicly his statement for stepping away from the sport is the same.
Chris never made any statements that deserved the brash replies that you gave him. You may want to learn a little more about funny car history before making statements like you do. And before you start on me, I have a little knowledge about funny cars as well, having worked on the late Shad Wheeler's Lil' Thumper TA/FC for a few years.

Thank you Tim. Apologies were offered and accepted through PMs. We are all passionate about the BB/FCs, in my opinion because of the people we have met through the years.

My family and I did help Mark in the late eighties and early nineties, though Mark funded the operation entirely on his own with the help of great sponsors like the Corn Growers.

    Waiting untill PRI!!

You really think there looking for money for AFC! The real bummer is you will never see 10,000 to win ever again. Time to support NHRA and thank Mr Lucas for his Support.

Hey Tim I sent Chris a PM and apologized for spazzing on him. The trouble is that Chris and yourself more then likely have been out of touch with IHRA and you haven't seen the decline up close as I have seen it. At the very best Aaron and his sidekick have single handed brought IHRA to it's knees or quite possibly it's belly. Case in point would be to read Burke's Blast on Drag Racing on Line where he points out some of the obvious that seem to be way over their heads. Let me see Aaron assumed control of IHRA with Hooter's in place and they left he brought in E-Max which didn't fly because they didn't pay. Then came Mansfield and we don't want to go there do we. You can say what you want about Evan Knoll but I think he helped a whole shitload of people out and bailed IHRA out when he should have been paying closer attention to the people he had in place that were in charge of running his businesses. Now he's broke and people are blaming him because he threw money away he never had that he thought he did. Wait a minute who put all their eggs in one basket?? Everybody that ever took a high school business course knows you never do that. Why didn't IHRA announce they were dropping the class at their banquet when they introduced their schedule? Why would they wait two weeks and do it on Competition Plus and not their own website? How do they figure on getting any backing when they introduce their schedule in November when most corporations are already planning 2010 budgets. If these two guys came knocking on your door for a couple million would you give it to them?? If this pair of Clowns worked for me their asses would be out in the street waiting in the soup line. Ahh! Clowns!! Feld Entertainment owns a couple of Circus compnies. That is why they bought Live Nation so he could aquire a couple more real clowns. Well done Mr. Feld.

    I guess we were lucky

We sold our IHRA Funnycar to a guy in Thieland when they went to a 8 car field. We tryed NHRA but in Div 1 We have Manzo, David Ray, DJ Cox (The guy I bought my car from) at the time Jay Pane and a host of others that had screws. I had a Wipple that had become a tire chock. We then went outlaw 10.5 and found that a 2500 hp motor on 10.5 was for the young that heal faster than me. Now we are back with a out law top dragster and just chase money.

    Going to miss IHRA

Well here goes......We have been reading alot of Bad things about IHRA, but our history with IHRA began way back in the seventies racing our pro-comp BB/FC, when IHRA was in the reigns of Larry Carrier. Maybe everyone has forgot how IHRA gave all the sportsman classes a place to race and welcomed the Alcohol Funny Cars as a Pro Class. I may be partial because I am The First IHRA Alcohol Funny Car World Champion!! Even with the ups and downs with different owners, sponsors, management and tracks, we still had a place to race and was greeted with a smile. Over the last few years when the going was really getting tough, Scooter Peaco still handled bad situations by taking the bull by the horn and solving any adverse problems. Aaron Polburn is the Gentle Giant of IHRA, he has not lost the ability to think like a racer and treat racers with RESPECT. Of course I didn't agree with all their decisions, such as an eight car field for Alky Funny Cars, but I know you can't make everybody happy. But for the record, Aaron and IHRA has made my team happy on more than one occasion. I haven't totally given up on IHRA yet....but I'm hoping that they will continue to seek sponsorship for the Alcohol Funny Car class......and bring back the 16 car field! YEP, sure gonna miss IHRA. :(

    Sponsor

There were rumors of front runners in the class who offered (some) or all of the Money for AFC and were turned down! Someone must know the story?
