I think everyone is going crazy for nothing. His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Thani, is a younge guy who I hear is 27 years old and loves racing. I am quite sure that the prince has been to a lot of races and just wants to bring our beautifull sport of drag racing and introduce it to international place's and to let others see why its so much fun to be involved in this sport. Its possible that his Highness could bring this sport to the next level, and maybe he will purchase the NHRA or the IHRA. Why is everyone freaking out, lets see what happens in the month's to come and then we can comment on what we see then.
Thats my 2 cents worth and I am sure that others can add to my comments.

For starters Ken Black is a "GOOD OL BOY" and his company has good old American Pride. He may the team owner, but he has other major American sponsers. As I stated before I am curious as to who the other sponsors (of any) will be on the sides of A.J.'s cars?
Unfortunately IMO NHRA will have their hand out to anybody who has "bucks" and that could be a very bad thing in the long run to be able to get any kind of worthwhile sponsoring for racers and the NHRA "Winston,Poweraid,Full throttle,Harley Davidson, etc etc......those company's may not be able to keep up with the DEEP pockets or want too.
I'm worried it could be "The Qatar Nationals" next labor day or in .the near future.
Who knows, maybe something good will come out of this, please let me know what it might be. Maybe lower gate tickets. :rolleyes:I must be in lala land now.

From what I have heard there are NO major sponsors on Hillary's car, and none on the hook for that matter, and that is why it is very likely being parked at the end of the year.
Don't get me wrong, I am as AMERICAN as they come, just ask my wife, she gets pretty hot about some of the anti-foreigner statements I make. I am trying to objective and look at this as an independent team owner who has the money to fund what ever he wants out of his own pocket. Do I want him to purchase every car out there? NO! Do I want him to purchase the NHRA? HELL NO!!! But I do welcome his influx of money and look forward to seeing his teams compete.

The land of the free and the home of the brave

This thread has taken a terrible turn for the worse. Sad but true we live a WORLD economy, not a American economy. It could be the best thing to ever
happen to MY sport. I personally think that Mr. Alan Johnson has GIVEN more to the sport of Drag racing, than any of us can imagine. I dont think for one minute that he would get involved in ANYTHING that would demean or hurt the Drag racing community. What Alan Johnson is doing, is nothing more than being a true american businessman, that happens to make HIS livelyhood from drag racing.

I say(again) GOOD ON YOU Alan Johnson.!!(and please slow Dennis Taylor down, his car has become too fast:D)

    Its BUD time

If I remember correctly. A couple of good ol' cornfed, American boys were the notable users of the products to bring down the Federal Building in OKC
I believe our govenment also put the culprit(s) out of their misery.

    Hey Don,

I just noticed that if you take the letters that are in your name, mix them around just a little, and add just a couple of letters you get "AliSupaflynabi SultanofTAFC". How weird is that?

(lol)To be honest who isn't looking for a sponsor.. the economy is hurting bad now whether it be in Canada or the US. The one advantage of being in the U.S is people believe in taking risks on sponsorship and in Canada the majority of major companies are uptight and dont want to take risks. As my dad said up here its all about paying taxes and then paying more on top of that. As someone said before(i forget who) drag racing began in the U.S and they are proud that other countries have jumped in and taken part in this wonderful sport. If Qatar ends up starting to get big into drag racing its only going to be a higherlevel of competition and more money into the sport. Think of it this way... would you rather be putting 250 grand out of your pocket or out of a sponsors pocket. Who cares if hes Arab, its someone that has taken interest in the sport and its our job to keep the sport alive and show the person how great it is. People being genuine to each other and the level of competition has made drag racing the way it is today.

I just couldn't decide what kind of entrance to make, had to make sure I could stick the landing...
Sorry about the name play - was just messing around. But it leads into my point about stereotypes. Now people who regularly visit this site might think that Don Hudson and Russ Parker are lunatics, and they'd be right. But not all stereotypes work that way. I would caution people to wait for more information regarding the formation of AJ's new team and sponsor before passing judgement. But I know, where's the fun in that?

If my folks only worked a little harder..

I am crazy(or so my therapist tells me) I am like you in the respect that some should lay low on their preconceived notions about what MR. AJ. is upto. Drag Racing needs something to generate excitement right now.

Yes its true. This is what was the topping on the cake, part qownership. Its not always about the money, people just want to be happy in what they are doing. AJ is just one of those guys who loves what he is doing and just wants his name on title.

How would we respond if someone were to hijack this thread?

Ok, ok...I know that was bad...How about a change in direction? Now that AJ (for whatever reasons such as ownership, money, etc.) has jumped the Army's ship :)confused:). What big name drivers might do the same from their current rides to have an opportunity to run with AJ? Or do you see him drawing from the current alcohol pool and giving some new blood a shot?
