    Alan Johnson

The bigger question is who will be Alan and Al-Anabi's drivers? Wouldn't you like to be the driver for one of their cars?

I said that and I know that the army is funding it. But I believe that there is still a sense of pride that goes along with that car especially our boys wearing the Army uniform. You cant tell me that there is not a Cheer every time that car wins from our boys.
I am sure that there is a place for Tampax (in our racing world, no pun intended) but I don't think that there would be the sopportive Cheer every time there would be a win as with the Army car.
Somehow I can't see The Sarge (Tony) and crew wearing rainbow uniforms.
And as for where my money would come from for any racing sponsorship I my take on, I could tell you in all honesty I WOULD be very selective as to where it came from and what kind if colors I would put on my racer. Maybe I keep a higher standard than some out there. I certainly would not take money from a drug dealer and put drug related images all over my car. That's their business and not mine and it is still money. (just an analogy, poor as it maybe)

rxl- believe me, i was not being cynical towards you at all. i was merely pointing out the fact that it strictly comes down to money for those guys. believe me, i would much rather see an ARMY car out there than a TAMPAX car, i was just using that as an analogy. although, if anyone here knows anyone at TAMPAX keep me in mind. or, a good condom company. could you imagine the recourse from people if DUREX was a sponsor and wanted to pass out rubbers at the national events much like SCHICK did a few years back... ideas, ideas, ideas.

That's kind of what I was getting at. A good sound respectable company advertising. (race/win on Sunday, sell on Monday)
Not someone with fat pockets that just wants to play for a while and possibly drive out the legitimate real advertising sponsers that help drive our economy and sport. Every sponsor would like to see their car in the winners circle from time to time and that's why they sponsor.
I am just wondering what is going to be on the sides of Alan Johnson's cars and what is trying to be sold to us. One can only imagine.
Can't you just see the Tampax dragster with the string attached to a parachute.:D
As for the US ARMY dragster, I wish them the best in the future. You can't always win every battle (race), but it's always good to know that you are there. (if you get my drift)

    why not?

I've got to put my 2 cents in here. I have been working my fingers to the bone for years running a concrete company. last year i was able to get licenced in richard putz's tad (thanks rich) and then the economy turned in the housing market here. now i cant afford to rent or buy a car.(not looking for sympathy) but i would take the sheik's money in a minute and paint the car pink with little flowers and put lace on my fire suit if he wanted me to  point being for those of you that have cars and sponsers or enough money to own your own car i hope you know how lucky you are cause some of us poor bastages out here cant seem to catch a break no matter how hard we work or what we do. i'm all for working for all that you get but sometimes a helping hand is okay as well;)

Glad to see Alan go but I am sure the gazillion dollars in oil money are not going to be good for the sport in the long run. As far as the Army goes I never really got why taxpayers were paying for a Drag racing team and nobody was jumping up and down crying foul. If the Army team gets there money from the Army and the Army gets there money from the government and the government gets there money from tax payers then any one of us should be able to walk into the Army pits and get a beer, or hell drive the car for a pass or two. Perhaps at the next race a couple hundred tax payers should go over and remind the Army team exactly who paid for what.

I understand what you are trying to get at, but the next time you get pulled over by a county sheriff for going 60 MPH in a 45 MPH zone, try the" Hey, I pay your salary" stunt with him! ;) Probably wont impress him either!

eli- in regards to your statement about people from over there... let me preface this by stating that i am not a really prejudiced person, but growing up in jerz and knowing people that were in the towers i cant help but racially profile people sometimes. anyways, heres my story...

so, my wife has our first child last thursday and he is in the NICU ward because he is a preamie. he is actually doing well. but, across from him is a lil baby girl that is some sort of middle eastern. well her parents dont speak english really well, and i personally heard the husband tell the doctor that the baby is not to be bottle fed or fed through the tube. she is to learn how to breast feed. well, she isnt latching on to her mother. so, needless to say she isnt really eating. well, the mother was discharged sunday and they havent been back since as of today at about 5 oclock. my wife overheard the nurse call child protection services for neglect. like seriously, how could you do that to your kid? different world over there.

    racing whores

for the right money we will race for anybody. like rosevelt asked a women if she would sleep with him for a million dollars. she responded yes. he then asked her if she would for 10 dollars. she stated " sir I am not a whore" rosevelt then replied "miss we have already established that you are, we are now negotiating on a price" ;)

With the rag head in the game perhaps WWE got out of NHRA too soon. With a little minipulation we could have the Iron Sheek VS Sargent Slaughter all over again.

You guy's in the United States are very lucky that your Government gives money out for a race teams. Our Canadian Government just like's to collect and then once you have paid them, they come right back to collect even more. If you don't have it they think about sucking the last bit of life out of you and sometimes want to try to take your first born child from you.

I know I'm gong to get beat up pretty bad on this, but oh well, here it goes anyway. How is this sheik, paying for a race team out of his pocket, any different from Ken Black paying for Hillary's ride? The only difference I see is that his pockets are alot deeper so he can afford the top crewchief, crew, parts, etc..... If he wants to fund 10 teams and doesn't want to worry about coorporate obligations that's his perogative. Isn't that how it all started in the first place? I understand the points about drag racing being an AMERICAN sport. It may have started in the USA, but it is all over the world now. I take pride in the fact that we AMERICANS started a hobby/sport that people in many other countries have taken a liking to. I would bet that most people racing overseas would jump at the chance to come over here and compete, on a competitive level, with the best drag racers in the world. I don't know very many racers that wouldn't jump at the chance to go to the top of the sport on someone else's dollar.
