is fitting a full set of KB type sleaves into a iron hemi block going to make the block weaker or stronger .
i am going to bore the motor to 60 over ( 4.310 ) and have been told this is max over bore , we run no water and the block is grout filled .
the block has 3 x sleaves in it now .
sleaves for all holes a good or bad idea ?

    cheers

If your interested this guy has a world steel hemi block for sale. i goggled Keith black steel hemi block, this is one of what i fond this is a brand new block still in the crate. mark@inlandvalleyconst.com ;) P/S don't think you can put KB stile sleeves in a steel block. it would be cheaper to buy an alum. block if it could even be done.

Most good steel blocks can go .100 over with a sonic check, trouble is once you fill the block, I don't think sonic is reliable. The head bolt threads are in the top of the block deck so if you cut the register for a KB style sleeve, you're cutting away a lot of the strength. You could sleeve all eight with a 1/8th moly sleeve back down to standard bore and have a pretty strong block, not the most cost effective way, but it is doable, that is, if you don't already have 4.310" pistons. With the new blocks that are available now, it's getting harder to justify saving an old block. JMHO
