Thanks... It was Ken Lowe I was trying to think of...

Sorry, I may not be a Top Alky or Top Fuel racer, but I can guarantee you there's not any, nor will be any, duct tape on my ride.

Ken makes nice stuff ,but I'll stick with my duct tape, 100% fool proof, never had it come off no matter how hard we shook the tires.

bro... maybe you're not trying hard enough cause after a few 'good shakes' i'd rather have duct tape than wonder if that thing has shook loose from the car yet... and if i'm gonna need to poke a few pistons in it?

but hey... to each his own. it's definitely a cool lookin little piece

i set up my fuel shut off to pull on and push off. also it pivots on a 3/8 bolt with a nyloc nut that I can adjust the tension on. I keep it fairly snug to where the knarliest tire shake wont budge it and with pull on and push off gravity of acceleration and deceleration works for you.
I have it mounted to a shifter stalk next to my reverser lever that has my air shift buttons, trans brake, and radio button so I never move my right hand from it till I reach for the chutes. this is in a door car also.

    For sale:

ITA Approved sticky back fuel shut off retention devices. We sell them pre cut in 3/8" wide by 8" long sections or you can by them in bulk, uncut on a 2" wide X 50' roll.

You'll be the envy of the staging lanes when you lift the cover off your engine to show your friends you've got your fuel shut off handled with these official ITA devices. They come in your choice of colors.

One of the more prominant Nostalgia Funny Car teams went through a lot of parts before they discovered the fuel shut off was somehow closing during the runs they made. The solution? One of our duct tape...er, I mean 200 mile per hour tape fuel shut off devices.

Because most racer's overthink simple solutions and feel it necessary to spend thousand of dollars on each and every part of their race cars we have decidied to price these according to your expectations. A package of 10 each, 3/8" X 8" long devices are $1,250.00. A 2" X 50 foot roll, which can make as many as 200 devices, is racer net discounted to $3,999.00.

Bob Meyer, we have operators standing by? Correct?

Maybe they could just wrap a "Sham WOW" around it. It'd be dual purpose and soak up any fuel leaks that may occur as well.

Hey that is a vry trick looking piece- can I get it in carbon fiber? I have used both the 200 MPH tape and the snap ties version. Both work without fail. I think sometimes we over complicate things. I have to remind myself sometimes to not trick myself right out of the race. Dave Germain

    Vernier control cable

If dash mount will work we have always used a vernier morse cable. Pull on. Push Off. A quick slap of the big red button shuts it off. It will stay where you put it. I think it is used in marine alot or trucks to set engine rpm when operating a pto unit.

    Scavenger Hunt

So I am at the Drag Strip tonight and my safety switch comes undone, it turns off the car at the end of the burn out. Now its been doing this for a while. I replaced the switch with new one and it still does it, frustrating to have your engine shut off when all your attention should be focused on staging and not a restart. So back in the pits a you guessed it "CAaaaCHINGGGGGGG" I need Duct tape!! and you know what it took 5 or 6 tries but I found it down pit row aways, the answer all to my troubles I tear off about the recommended 8" strip or so hustle back to the trailer and then tear off a 3/8 wide strip, wrap it around the handle and leave it there my crew to safety tie the switch once its set and it NEVER LET ME DOWN ONCE. Since finding duct tape my life will never be the same again. hahahahaha what the hell it worked great!:)

I was trying to find out what three square inches of duct tape weigh when I found this

    http://www.octanecreative.com/ducttape/NASA/index.html

If its good enough for NASA I guess its good enough for race cars. But maybe not show cars with fancy anodized spring brackets that weigh 10 ounces.
