screw blower adapter

we are trying to figure our costs on switching from a roots to a screw blower
but this weekend at indy one of the crews told me about keeping my roots style carbon hat and using an adapter for it to the psi 206 blower, i have looked on rbs website and the do offer it but couldn't get anyone on the phone today, talked with roger of psi he didn't really recommend it
has anyone tried this before or is it just a waste of time and money.

you don't want a roots hat on a psi. your boost is gathered rom around the sides of the blower. if you funnel it to the center, you are hurting the blowers ability to pull the air to the sides.

 

what about Jay Payne`s hat... thats a roots-based hat with an adapter.

talked with jr at rbs today, they don't really recommend it either.
so would you go carbon or magnesium, mag is said to flow better but i seen mostly carbon fiber at indy, on the dragsters anyway.

 

No, i know what he meant. Jay`s f/c hat looks the same as the one on the pro mod...

 

If you have to have the carbon for looks and it is in your budget that is one thing , as far as function goes check out what top car in the af/c class runs . I have seen different hats on his car but he has returned to the std. PSI mag f/c hat which can be had for around $800 used .
