I have an old cast Hemi KB block with standard cam location and standard cam bore, does anyone know off hand the maximum amount of stroke the block will take? Thanks in advance.

Hi rb.....I have an old hemi cast KB block and if memory serves it has a deck height of 10.700. The KB crank is +5/8" making stroke 4.375". Hope this is some help. Cheers.

10.200 takeaway piston compression height, takeaway rod length, less 1/2 of stroke. have a play with this formula. depending on crank counterweight diameter will determine rod length for piston clearance to crank as it swings around.

Aloha rb , So you have a -.500 short deck KB if the deck height is 10.200. Same as mine. I don't know what the max stroke would be, but I have a + .100 in my deal, crank is 3.850.

I know a 4.250 stroke will fit, was wondering if a 4.500 stroke would fit. Not really concerned with rod length or compression height, more concerned about the rods hitting the camshaft or the pan rail. Thanks for the input thus far.

4.250 will work 4.500 with aluminum rods need to machine the rods for making clearance with the camshaft

I have a 4.500 stroke and using a steel Oliver rod. No clearance issues.
Agree you would have to clearance a aluminum rod.
