Just want some opinion here for reliability on a repaired Crankshaft. I have a new one coming and wondering if I should fix my old one as a spare. It has a crack on number two main. Its out of a Screw Pro Mod.

    Thanks

Probably not repairable, might keep as emergency spare, it was running when you took it out.

Hate to say it, if it's cracked that far around, it's junk. If you have someone that is experienced with blown alcohol/racing cranks, it might be worth magnafluxing to confirm it is a crack. If it's a no doubter, it's junk.

I've seen broken cranks just break and cause minimal damage. I've also seen broken cranks destroy everything in a short block - block needed 5 saddles, so it wasn't worth repairing. Rocker shafts were bent, flywheel was junk, tore up parts in the front section of the trans, so it was costly.

Crank shaft rebuilders in Melbourne if you want to keep in aus, but I’d send to marine cranks in California, not that expensive to freight when it’s for repairs
