That was 'The Pleasure Seekers" funny car of John 'Smokey" Samolyk and Joe Alexander. An Ex Frank Manzo car with a Tempo body from Bernstein.

There was another Joe Amato - from Las Vegas, I think - who ran a series of "Wiskey" (that's how he spelled it) BB/FCs.

Here are some others I remember, including a few obscure ones from Div. 6:
    Chuck Beal - Bealmobile
Jett Field - The Idaho Kid
    Ricky Ruiz - Nevada Rattler
    Roger Bateman - Showdown
    Jim Epler - AirTime
    Dale Harsin - Idaho Thunder
    Ed Grekul - Sound Wave
    Lynn Redeman - Time Traveler
    Tom Tillett - Hemi Hunter
    Murray Bunnell - Quarter Flash

OK, another one. What was the name of Murph McKinney's car? I remember seeing him run at a points race in Cincinatti, the same race Glidden debuted his Plym. Arrow Pro Stocker.

Don't know why I remember this, but McGee's car was the "Sunshine Pizza Exchange" for a season, or so.

OK, another one. At Indy one year, I think 79, or 80, we were pitted next to a TAFC called "Caliope", it was silver, and had a circus type paint scheme. I think it was a Div.5 car. Had a Rodeck engine, and those boys just THREW parts at it. After every qualifying pass, the trash cans around their pit were full of aluminum! And they were laughing and joking while they were throwing all those broken parts in the trash!

    Mike, remember those guys!!!????

    Murf McKinney

I saw Murf drive two different FC's - the first was a Monza called "Kentuckian", although the main lettering on the car was his name. It was red and white. The second was an Arrow called "Goodman & McKinney". It was mainly silver in color.

One of my favorite match race cars was the "Drastic Plastic" Mustang of Tom Motry. It was the old Chi-Town Hustler car and he kept the same paint for a couple of years before repainting it and renaming it "Golddigger". He ran pretty consistant 6.2 to 6.4 when I saw him run and he put on a good show for the fans. The first race I saw him at he pulled in with an open trailer (can you imagine that today???). Another good runner was Stan Bowman with the Flying Dutchman and then later the Ohio State Patrol Camaro. Doc Halladay in the Telstar also had some good years and ran pretty well at some national events in the 80's.

I was at the '79 US Nats when Al Hoffman had his debut in the "China Syndrome" Vega (ex- Radici & Wise car). It was a low buck deal at the time but he sure worked his butt off over the years to get to the top. I think Chuck Etchells was at that race also in the "Future Force" car. The '79 Nats was the year that Kosty Ivanof made it to the finals in his Boston Shaker Vette, which was great for a guy who mainly match raced. On the Alcohol front, Billy Williams ran 6.50's all day long to win Pro Comp at that race. At the time, 6.50's were awesome to see (kind of like 5.20's today).

    trashed

Billy------ I Remember That Team....at Indy One Year...they Were Pitted Close By And Trashed The Transmission Among Other Things, And Took The Trans Case Over To The Trash Barrel And Just Dumped The Parts Into The Can. Also, They Took The Oil Pan Over And Dumped It The Same Way...i Think Fred Was With Us At That Time. You Should Remember Them From That Period Of Time. I Believe That They Were From Either Az Or Nm. Late 70's Or Early 80's.

Ken Veneys Car Was Called The Red Rocket At One Time....rona Used To Have A Little Poem She Would Say....red Rocket, red Rocket, Go Fast! Or Something Like That.................janet

Cellone Used The Name Road Warrior For The Alky Car And Kept The Name "black Magic" For The Nitro Fc Till They Quit.....

No..... DA's car was the Black Magic. I think he bought the car, and the name with bookings directly from RC Sherman.

No....you're right! I'm mistaken. They did buy that last car of DA's, and his son was doing some tuning on it, for awhile. My mistake.
