Lenco Drive catch can

how big should a catch can be for a Lenco drive? How much is normal for it to push out? Should I expect to see 1/2 a quart on a normal run? What if I really get it hot? Thanks in advance.

 

not the same but my Bruno, when level is correct, doesn't push any, worst case half pint or less. Breather tank is 1 pint and has never filled.

 

We run a moroso I think it’s one quart with a breather on top mounted in the rear of the car higher than the trans that way if it does push anything out it will flow back in never checked it to see if it pushed anything out or not but like I said it will just drain back in never had it over flow or anything

 

I have a 1 quart puke tank,with a vent, that will drain back into the trans once it cools.

That vent is going to be replaced with a line that goes to the main puke tank. A week ago the trans got a little hot on the line. That melted the craptastic plastic filter which restricted fluid flow which caused the fluid to get even hotter. The fluid expanded enough to fill the tank and blow a pint out the top. Consider worst-case scenario and then go a little farther when setting the system up.

 

Sorry to hear about your mishap, but this is the info I was looking for. Any idea of what kind of temp you were seeing? Plastic melts at roughly 200*. Automatic trans fluid makes me nervous because of its low flash point. I wanted to over engineer it but needed some parameters to work with. Thanks for sharing!

 

Any input on a Quick Drive? The manual says to have a gallon puke tank.

 

I run a quickdrive and just run a 1/4 line back to the puke tank. Never even seen trans fluid in the tank. Really a solid built unit. I didn’t a 330 pull back up refueled car and ran it again without cooling it off. Never puked fluid out of overflow.

 

Mike Strasburg said I would be fine with a pint puke tank mounted higher than the unit that fills from the bottom with a vent at the top. Anything that ended up in it would just drain back to the Quick Drive.

 

My trans regularly sees 220+ temps. I've run the trans for 5 years without a problem until that one run I was on the brake a little longer. I agree that you don't plan for when things go right, you plan for when they go wrong. I had trans fluid all over one of the slicks which could make a quick stop difficult.

The overflow from Lenco works fine most of the time. It shouldn't be vented to the atmosphere for just this reason.

 

I ran the RJ Camaro for the first time last Saturday at the IN-N-OUT Burger 70th birthday party at the Fairplex in Pomona. Love it. B&J/Quick Drive worked flawless.
