I'm now running TBS XR-1 14/71 HH blower on my street / grudge car (3700+lbs) after seeing blower dyno comparison with the lb-20 and kobelco superman which the XR-1 not only made more boost it did so at lower INT. Temps and less parasitic loss. I also spoke with tommy keeter at KPE after he got some engine dyno results and he claimed he was very impressed, he said it not only made killer power at low OD. But very cool intake temps, There is a video of him making 2400+ hp with a 24 deg. Headed BBC with an lb-20 roots. I asked him how he thought the XR-1 stacked up against the lb-20 and he said the XR-1 would run circles around it, I don't have a lot of data yet on my car but so far I've seen 32lbs boost at 7800 rpm with only 21% OD on my 555 and I will give updates at a later date. You can take this for what it's worth but I just wanna say for only $8000 where are you gonna get an all billet blower with that kind of performance.

I also wanted to mention that Eric at the blower shop claimed that they dynoed it against not only the kobelco superman and the lb-20 but also the DMPE M-4 and M-5 , and he claimed only the M-5 outperformed the XR-1 by a small margin. Again these are only claims but something to think about, maybe there is something with more bang for your buck. I know there are better blowers out there but for considerably more money. And as always I do appreciate and respect all of your knowledge, thank you.

Eric told me the same thing. Keeter said it was better than whatever SSI he was comparing it to

Bottom line, the proof is in the pudding. When someone does A to B testing then we'll know.........It will be interesting.

I was impressed with the 24# it makes at only 9%.

Yes keeter was very impressed, and I don't have enough data yet but my intake temp probe is right under the delta opening and haven't seen any temps above 90 deg. At 32psi and will have more data soon but so far I'm very happy and think you'd be hard pressed to find a better blower for the money not to mention it's a beautiful looking piece.

Bednar1320 take it to 18% and let us know if it makes another 2.5 to 3 lbs.Would be interesting to see how far it goes and stays linear ,especially using your dollar to test on.LOL

I plan on giving it a little more this fall, when the conditions are better.

I don't plan on going much higher with the boost...........

I was testing my car down in Bakersfield a couple weeks ago with the XR-1 14/71 and went from 14%OD to 39% and boost went from 24lbs on my 555 BBC to 40lbs both @ 8,000rpm and dropped. 4 tenths and picked up 17 mph in the 1/8 on a 3,850lbs

Neil, are you having any surging issues with the XR1? I just got mine started up and i'm having surge issues, I know Brian Bednar has been fighting it some since he installed his.

Just FYI Steve Will won TD at the winternats this year with a XR1 on a Brad motor

Hi Steve , I have occasionally had surge issues if the idle was to low below 1900-2000 or the barrel valve was too rich as I also drive my nova on a regular basis on the street but also if the convertor is to tight it will want to surge when in gear , I had just made a convertor change before my last outing at Bakersfield and the convertor was a little too tight and started to surge again so I'm making a stator change as the convertor was only flashing to 5200 rpm whereas my previous would flash to 6200rpm coming off the two step, as far as your 110 fuel pump choice I don't think I would spin your XR-1 14/71 more than 25%OD even with a .080 size main jet unless you creep up on it because that blower will move some air , I run a 990 pump which is almost 3 GPM more with a .090 main jet and no pump loop @ 39% OD, just my .02, good luck what part of the country are you from Steve?

As far as the pulleys got a 54 on bottom and currently have a 50 on top which is 8% just to get started and the fastest pulley I have is 46 which should be around 17% OD. Reason for the 110 pump is I just want to keep things simple for now, its a twin gear pump so I can always change gears to make it bigger and add a high speed later if I want.

I am from TX, Ft Worth area

Just curious if there has been any more testing or comparisons on these blowers in regards to boost and intake temps?

AA performance I have seen as much as 43lbs of boost @ 39% OD @8000 rpm on my 555 BBC with intake temps never over a 100 degrees it's an awesome blower and when I attended the March meet at Famoso raceway back in March of 2019 before covid hit the 3 fastest nostalgia fuel cars were all running 6/71 XR-1 blower shop blowers including Bucky Austin and Joey gross racing engines in Lodi California claims it's the best blower that he has ever seen for the money! Also I heard Brad Anderson and his brother did some testing with a 14/71 XR-1 on one of their cars and were very impressed with the performance!

How do the Fowler F-11 blowers compare. I am lead to believe that they are a step up from the other 2 mentioned. Thoughts??? They aren't that much more expensive and wondering if they are worth the extra dollars.

Did you ever get one of these blowers? What was your performance increases? IAT's were higher, lower or the same? I'm in the market for a new blower soon but I am thinking a Fowler or DMPE.

Have gone with a new M4 from DMPE along with there Carbon hat and spray bar assembly. Unfortunately covid put everything on slow motion and everything including Earp pump should be getting shipped next week. I think the main difference between M4 and M5 is the changable bottom plate on blower. I think they come in cast or forged cases.
