Were the heads off it recently? Debris on the gasket / head / block faces could have caused a flame path area that then blew out.

It's happen to us twice, Brad is very reasonable on cost to weld up. After you run and get hot after it cools retorque head studs. Fatten it up.

Well let me ask you this since it is #1. Which pattern do you use when you torque the heads. Do you start in the middle and work you way out or do you do it the way BAE advises and most of us do is to start all the way out and work in. We all changed the pattern to out working in to stop blowing head gaskets.

I would then suggest that you switch to out to to middle. It will help prevent this problem. All the Promod guys I know all do it that way and nobody every has a problem with blown gaskets. Call Jeremy at BAE and he will tell you the same thing

    Triple check your timing.
And check it yourself, had an issue like that blew out #1 two runs in a row crew guy checked timing said it was good I checked after 2nd head and it had too much timing.

Mike , do you suggest this way for all engines, even blown SBC with cast iron blocks/alloy heads?

Outside of what has been mentioned here on timing -

Check TDC and make sure the pointer hasn't been moved.
If you have some sort of retard box, make sure it's not stuck in a stage or something throwing you off when you check timing.
Make sure sleeve hasn't sunk (unlikely)
Make sure it is not leaking oil past plug tube. This will cause detonation.
Check fuel pump flow/pressure and make sure they are on line with what you normally run.
Try to double check your weather station to make sure it's not giving you a false reading.
