fuel pump

    526 BBC 14-71 hi helix 36-38 lbs of boost top sportsman car. currently I run an enderle 990 fuel pump. I noticed enderle came out with a gear driven pump compared to the vane style. I know waterman and rage are the best out there. what are the benefits to a gear driven pump? does anyone have any info on the enderle gear pumps? I see they are much cheaper than the waterman. curious to know if anyone has any info.

    Gear pumps do not wear very much. The gears hardly ever wear and usually only the end plates wear. After five years a gear pump may have lost .2 GPM. Look at Aeromotive gear pumps also. They are also very good.

    Would it be worth it to spend the money on the upgraded pump? Right now i have a 990 pump. I only put 25 runs on it last year after having it flowed and tested. I did not put a flowmeter onto the system until the end of the year.

    waterman pump has heat treated steel end plates like mike said very little wear. The 990 pump the gears ride on the anodized aluminum housing if and when the gears eat thru the aluminum end plate you will loose enough pressure to nip a plug burn a piston or push a gasket out

    Putting a flow meter in the system is really good BUT you need to do something with the data obtained such as the methanol fuel tuning software Alky Pro. Now you can see if you flow is decreasing because your Enderle 990 pump is wearing out.

    I'm also wondering if anyone has used the new Enderle pump.

    Not sure what Enderle pump you are looking at but it does not ride on an aluminum front plate. Open one up.
