Can I use an Arias shelf a fuel piston in a screw blown motor? 4.375x 3.600, Brad -5, D rotor, 39.5cc dome works out to be 11.5:1 with piston down .020 and a .050 gasket. 1.156 pins and pro coated. They seem kind of heavy at 890grams.... I'd like to turn it around 9800 through the lights with a two speed and converter in a 2650lb door car.

probably could, depends if there's a bunch of valve relief on the A/Fuel piston, don't really want that on a blower application.
For all of $80 per new piston, I'd get pistons built for a blower application.
I have brand new Aries A/Fuel pistons w/ very little relief, you can have for $20 a pc.
And, as a suggestion, try using a thicker gasket if possible.

Thanks for reply, Never thought about the piston relief difference. I was concerned with weight. I did see Arias has a shelf 4.375 piston for blown alcohol that should work, I want a nice serviceable reliable set up. And is there a thickness head gasket to generally use? I've always use .040-.050 BBC stuff.

i'm a whole lot more comfortable with a gasket in the .070 range.
quite a bit stronger, but still thin enough to conform.

Hi, Not sure what rod length/Deck height you use but if it helps I have a set of 8+one spare 4.375" blown alky pistons for BAE 5 heads leftover w/ 1.4397 ch and they take a 1.156" pin. These had only a warm up on them. If they will work for you I will let them go for $350+sh as I went to the big bore a long time ago and forgot about these when I sold my 4.375" Stuff. BAE stocking piston Arias Job Number:292286

    Best wishes,
