Anyone have any ideas of what might be the problem? I have a bbc 555 with 14/71 on alcohol. that take out starter after only 2 to 3 times of cranking it. 2 of them twisted the motor and drag or locked up. Have tried Msd dyna force And the CSR 24 volt. all failed. Motor runs good if you can get it starter before starter fails.

My guess would be a ground problem. If you want to start a private conversation, I'll tell you about the CSR starters & maybe I can help

Make certain you have big enough cables. Fought it for a season. Changed to welding cable and problem gone. JW

We run regular battery cables on a HEMI. Just remember, the flow of amperage goes from negative to positive. So the size of the positive cable isn't as critical as the ground network! A good ground cable from battery to starter and grounds to all electrical devices. The frame ( chrome moly ) is not a good ground!
