I warm up my motor by leaning it out using the fuel shutoff valve. I recently did a leaked down on the motor and found all the cylinders were less then 1% except #1 and #8; they were around 5 to 7%. Number 1 was leaking passed the rings and #8 was leaking around the exhaust valve.

During warm up I notice the back of the heads at #1 and #8 always heat up the fastest. I don't let the heads get to hot that I can't touch them.

My question is am I getting those cylinders too hot during warm up to hurt the valves with my short zoomies?

    Thanks, Joe

No. Don't believe you are damaging your motor doing a warmup like that.

It's the easiest spot to make warm because it's the least amount of meat around the cylinders. That's also why those cylinder when running hard will always nip a piston or push a gasket out. I tend to run those plugs colder than the rest
