Jonnie Lindberg 5.43 @ 268 in FIA Top Methanol Funny Car

    Hi guys,

Jonnie Lindberg from Sweden has just run 5.43 @ 268mph during the Sweden Internationals at Tierp Arena in his Monte Carlo Top Methanol Funny Car (or TAFC)

The Lindbergs are getting very close to the world record of 5.41. Great to see FIA drag racing showing great promise in the world of drag racing.

    .985 60 ft.

    3.619 @ (348.84 kph) = 216.76 mph ??? @ half track

    5.43 @ (432.86 kph) = 268.86 mph

    This at 92 over (d rotor psi ) and 2300 + lbs TM/FC

Would like to see the rest of the incrementals.?

    Great run!

Just an FYI...The overdrive limit for PSI superchargers over there is 125%, not 92% like we have here in USA's Wally World. That equates to about 10 more pounds of boost and around 400 more horsepower.

Not to dimish the run, but I would venture to guess that if you handed Manzo some 125% pulleys he'd likely stick it in the mid to low 5.30's at north of 275 MPH is the right conditions.

If I am incorrect please advise...and accept my apoplogies.

you are correct that that is the allowed od in fia TMFC Bureaucracy says we cant use the word alcohol in relation to driving/cars/whatever as it would encourage drink driving so they say ..but back to the point we and as far as I know every other team use 92
that's not to say they haven't switched but don't assume cause we can we do, the cars /motors/fuel systems all come from the US so we tend to use stuff where there is expertees to draw from

    things to consider
he is driving manzos last year car,
it is a world class all concrete track at sea level surrounded by pine forests (trees make oxygen)
they are ex blown pro mod champions and johnnie is a clever tuner as well as a great driver,

A "clever tuner" wouldn't leave that much overdrive on the table. If I had the chance to run 125% I'd use it.

I have been to the races over in Europe and they are using 92% OD. Also one of the cars Manzo's but bought as a roller. The other car is all theirs. Neither of them has a Manzo motor or setup. It is all theirs.

If you are sure then I'll have to let my "reliable source" know he's not so "reliable."

Again, however, congrats to the entire team!

Mike Janis Jr & Sr/JANCEN are the ones who have been helping the Lindbergs with the pro mod car and now both funny cars. I could be wrong, but thats what I have seen. Maybe not on the tune up fully, but they are JANCEN customers for sure. Jonnie Lindberg has a great track record and is doing a great job tuning all the cars they have had. Very impressive.

They say its 100% NHRA legal.

Regardless and undoubtably a good run. Congrats guys. Keep up the good work. Fun seeing a younger generation kick some ass.

Mike Janis senior says categorically it is 92% so I guess they will save the extra OD for when we start catching up....
anyway at 92% it is one half of a world record run

    1000' ET: 4,6019
    Finish spd: 432,69 kmh (268.86mph)
    Finish ET: 5,4379

    And from the run today:

    60': 0,9642
    660' ET: 3,7174

Adam, just beat Jonnie in the semi finals with a personal best of a 5.54 sec at 264. Wow. I wish I had been there. Don't know yet what happened to Jonnie.

    misprint

The reported half track speed from the first round was a misprint on eurodragster.com. I looked up the timing data from nitroz.se and the speed was 210.1 mph.

    Congrats on some great performances.

    Thanks Will,
That is a bit more believable, 222 ++ MPH to half track was a bit hard to swallow for a TA/FC..
Still you would think the eurodragster report would be accurate, the 5 is a long way from the 3 on the keyboard.
