    Hi Guys
I am building a blown alcohol doorslammer and looking for information on
the capabilities of 35 spline axles.
    It is a 509 chev ( approx 1600 hp) with a 2 speed B&J and a 4.30 gear.
The car will weigh around 2700 #
I currently have a narrowed 9 inch with 35 spline axles.
I know eventually I should go with a full floater however not in the
    budget right now.
In your experience is the 35 spline adequate for what I'm doing?

Thanks for your help and advice.
    Thanks for the space ITA.

    Jason..

    Budget ??

Can you afford to replace the entire car ??
Can you find a legitimate assoc. that will let you run without ??
Please save yourself misery, stay home until you can afford a 40 spline floater, or sell the blower and go have fun.
Sorry, I've seen too many tears.....

    axles

We run 35's on our 2300 lb blown Brad TD, running 6-teens @ 225+, but it was not problem free....
The set up it came with was an older strange deal, and after a bit we striped the female splines out of the axle plates. Could not by new ones, so we built some better ones.
then we twisted the axles a bit, so I ordered from Strange the best replacement 35 spline ones they had...half a season later they were cracked.
So I bought some from Mark Williams, better material than Strange, and for 3 years they have been perfect.
If we would of had the room in the spindle housing to fit 40's in, we would have prefered that.
Keep in mind this is a dragster; probably shorter axles than yours....not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

    it will work fine

I was running a 2500# camaro with 35's. never had an issue. I know that 1.09 is not a quick 60' for a funny car, but it's damn quick for a door slammer. It really has to do with how hard you launch it. I agree though... a floater is the best way to go.

I'm going to save my money and buy the floater for it.
Putting big tires under it with a clutch so it will find the weak parts.
Thanks for your input guy's, I wanted opinions and I got them.
    I appreciate your advice!

I run Moser 35's and weigh 3200lbs... but I run small tires and a glide, that makes a big differance.

    35 spline axle

From experience try to get a floater our maybe that two piece setup that strange sells. The axles may hold all the power you throw at it but if you go into bad tire shake it will cut the flange off the axle like a red hot knife going through butter. If you search the internet you will find many car that have thrown the back tire right out of the car. Not a good thing I did it 8 years ago.

Speaking of floaters... What is different about the Strange setup vs the MW setup? The strange stuff is MUCH cheaper.

I've got a pair of 40 spline, non floater axles with bearings.
Was used on my dragster before going to floaters.

    Great deal if interested.

No strange isn't cheaper anymore on floater stuff. 300-500 dollars isn't worth the savings. Go for the mark Williams. It's like a buy it once type of thing. Strange uses soft materials . There cases move , axles twist... why bother to save $500 I know some nhra promods that have used mw stuff for over 4 years now.

If you go with the M/W Floaters make sure and get a 1 piece axle! With 2 axles there are 4 splines engaged with spline clearance at each one -way too much slop from side to side. I dont know why M/W are worse than any other brand I've seen.
