I have been running a old version MSD-10 that uses the pro power coupler it has was worked great for the last 3 seasons but after a engine rebuild this year it wont even try to fire.I bypassed the coupler and it starts right up.
I sent my pro power coupler to MSD and it checked out good. I put it back on the car and same thing, It wont start. I bypassed the power coupler and it fires right up. Would anybody know if there should be continuity threw the coupler like you do threw a coil? Could it be my ignition box?
    Any help would be great.

Hi there, it sounds like its your coupler but I am not familiar with them so cant comment on how to test them. It it couples 2 coils, you should be able to measure the resistance between each coil input and the output (ohms) and they should be the same.

I have just had my 2nd MSD-10+ go up in smoke, this unit had been tested by MSD last year so I am far from impressed with the reliability of these units. Its a pain in the arse as they only sell the 8 now which is no where near as grunty (probably more relaible though). Cheers, Graham

    msd-10

So it sounds like you agree, we should see some continuity threw the coupler?I wonder How did MSD not see that when they tested this thing? I will have to give them a call on Monday.
    Thanks, B

MSD 10 has not been made or sold for over 3 years now...and there is not any replacement coil coupler available.. the newer model 10 boxes that use the single coil..p/n 8208 is still being produced...

I know that sucks. I had no issues with this ignition for a long time. I would really like to know what happen to it. I dont really have the money for a new one.

MSD have advised me that you need specialised test equipment to test the coil coupler for the 10, as I said there is a unit for sale on Ebay.

I had also ran my MSD-10+ for 5 years before failure and have now had 2 fail in under 12 months. Beware !! Cheers
