IMIS has graciously offered us a conference room to hold a Top Alcohol Owners/Drivers meeting.

I will have a finalized time/room next week, but it will be sometime in the afternoon on Friday, December 9th at the International Motorsports Industry Show in Indianapolis (IMIS).

The idea is to discuss issues facing the class and get feedback from all racers present. NHRA already has a busy schedule with track meetings, tech seminars, etc., but we will present NHRA with points made during the meeting.

We are going to keep this objective and constructive.

I'd love to see a good turnout for this.

To register for the show, visit www.IMIS-Indy.com

    Details to come.

I prefer PRI. Tried Indy before Orlando. I don't like cold weather. Really ticks me off how indy wants to step up to plate now PRI moved to Orlando. The whole deal just splits people up.

    Ro,

It's a tough situation for many racers and companies in the racing industry. I really don't want this to get into a who's right or wrong deal on IMIS vs PRI.

Geographically, IMIS is a lot closer to more racers than PRI.

Many times at the track, we are there together, but rarely does everybody have time to get together and discuss issues. This is an opportunity to get a group together and talk about issues facing our class.

Obviously the topic on everyone's mind is what is going to happen with this regional deal. I think this meeting will be a good opportunity to go over the new program and offer some suggestions on how to improve it.

Outside of that, we need to look at ways to better promote ourselves and rebuild the 'brand' of Top Alcohol Dragster/Funny Car.

If well attended, we can get concerns from some of the little guys all the way up to the touring top ten cars.

I think it's a much better idea to get as many racers together in one setting rather than rely on the sportsman reps and this site alone to voice concerns.

I hope to see many of you there!

    Meeting

The meeting will be at 3 pm Friday. The room number will be announced, but it should be listed in the show/seminar schedule as "NHRA Top Alcohol Racers Meeting".

    Hope to see you there!

You just need to be registered to attend the show (see link below).

We do ask that those attending this meeting are either drivers, owners or designated representatives of teams. Several manufacturers have expressed interest in sitting in as well.

I'd also like to ask for a volunteer to help take notes/minutes of the meeting. Anyone interested email me at will.hanna@insidetopalcohol.com. Also feel free to email topics you would like to have brought up as I will be drafting the meeting's agenda.

Here's the link to register for the show: http://imis-indy.com/AttRegistration.html

"From the stand point of a Manufacture"
Our job is to be where our customer is. In the case of two shows, a week apart, it may seem redundant. But the crowd is completely different at each show. The IMIS Show is filled with Hard Core Racers. The PRI Show has a mix of racers and automotive enthusiast. With that said, the choice attend a trade show in Orlando allows a guy to turn the week into a vacation for him and his family, and still get some time at a trade show. Of course most of us have wives that just do not care to spend three days looking at race cars. In that case Orlando is a good choice.
The IMIS show, on the other hand, provides very little outside entertainment for the family. IMIS is there to allow the Hard Core Races to see and learn in preparation for the upcoming season.
These shows mark the start of a New Year, not the end of an old one. Every Manufacture exhibiting at these shows spend a huge amount of time, effort, and money to be there for you. This is also the perfect time to meet and talk, face to face, with all of your parts supplier. All assembled at the same time and in the same place.
We will be at both shows and are looking forward to spending time with as many racers as possible.

    Thanks

I would like to thank the 50 racers and mfg reps who attended the meeting. I think it was productive. Minutes and notes were taken and contacts were gathered. I will post a summary of what was discussed tomorrow.
