Was looking at all the Hoffer info I have and can't find what I'm looking for. Does it matter if you use 5V or 12V for the power to the flowmeter from the data recorder? Not a Race-Pak but it is a Hoffer flowmeter. Thanks.

Let's see if I can explain this. The actual Hoffer flowmeter doesn't need voltage because it actually generates pulsed microvolts at a rate that corresponds to the flow when the vane turns. Just like a small genererator. This pulsed microvolts then needs to go to a high gain amplifier which can be part of the data logger or an optional Hoffer high gain amp that is attached to the flowmeter. If your Hoffer flowmeter uses a two pin plug then there is no high gain amp. If the Hoffer flow meter has a three pin plug then it has a built in high gain amp and needs voltage. Let me know if you have a two pin or a three pin plug on the flow meter.

    Mike,

It's the standard two pin with the Cannon plug. Thanks.

Then the answer is above. A friend and I have built our own data loggers with a Hoffer flowmeter so I know that is how it works for sure.
