So what you guys are trying to tell me is that no matter how much you dillute it Nitro is going to respond the same? If this is the case It does sound like a horrible idea & im glad i asked the question. Thanks for your help.

    John,
Would alky be an alternative? If amyl acetate can be used to mix unlike fuels, seems like it would at least help control detonation and exhaust temps. Just a thought, although I hesitate to throw it out there and incur the derision of some of the elitest geniuses on here............... :D

We did that too back in the day....It locked up the plungers in the injection pump & hung the rack open  The diesel is all we have to lube all these little parts in the pump, alcohol is too dry. Some of the tractor puller guys are playing with it with good results but i dont know how they are doing it.

Alot of guys throw water/alky mix at the intake charge to help keep egt's down and make some more power, the big time puller guys use alot of water but I dont think they are allowed to use alky.

I dont see why you couldnt use straight alcohol, as long as you were careful and rules allowed it...

Nitro cut 25% with cyclohexanone desensitizes it the same as 45% methanol would. cyclohexanone blends with diesel and makes cyclox, a anti soot diesel fuel.desensitized nitro is no more likely to explode from heat and compression than diesel.

CH3NO2 the recipe for speed; C10H15N another recipe for speed: wait; thats over the speed limit; don't do that. drugs 're bad.

why put the Nitro through the pump?
Could you inject it into the runner like a wet N2O system?

    Nitro-diesel mix

Pro stock tractor pullers who see rules as something to break, have been known to run up to 25% nitro in their diesel...
Saw the effects of that about 10 years ago, when a really nice IH pro stock send a piston through the sheet metal... Sounded really strong though - for about a second or two...

But a lot of the "liberal" pro stock guys are not afraid of 10-20% nitro in the diesel... MANIACS  :D

we do have a water injection set up that uses enderle nozzles & sprays into each port already. 3000 psi is what the punp puts out but we regulate it down quite a bit from that.

I think adding nitro in the intake would be an even worse idea, it would surely detonate before the injector even fired... A diesel will (diesel) on its own engine oil, even desensitized nitro has to be more prone to ignite than motor oil.

    3 things

    A few suggestions.
#1 make sure you call the fire department before you start.
#2 Make a remote controlled starting tinge.
#3 and most important STAY BACK 500 FEET.

Lol...at some point & time I'm sure this was said about the first guy to try nitro in an internal combustion engine..besides just for my safety I was going to get my wife to push the starter button while we hid behind the trailer...
Somebody's already done it I'm sure... I want to talk with that guy

What a neat throw back story Mike......Thats the stuff that drives us all, contrary to popular belief im not just some dumdazz thats going to pour this stuff in my tank & hope for the best. The reason i started this thread was for knowledge before I do this. There are still a lot of questions but heck thats part of the fun of it. There is no way i would try to run this "mix" in the nhra even "if" it did get something to work. The feed back has been refreshing & entertaining though. I will keep everyone posted on the outcome of my mother in law when she pushes the starter button.

Sugars are likely to form if you leave your Nitrocyclohexane blend sit in a vented aluminum tank, like methanol does.
