    MIKE .
from what i have been told troys rotors are made in michigan by a company called HR&D

i also run a m5 with x3 rotors @ 20% and have done now 47 laps and have seen less than 1lb boost loss over those laps and i have not restripped it yet ,,

my m5 is straight of the shelf no other mods , its straight from dmpe .
it made 36.1lb on its first full lap and 47 laps later the data says 35.9lb
we use dmpe blower lube for nearly every other run ,,,,

Thats what we noticed..LOTS of heat, LOTS! And low strip life....our PSI had 5-times the strip life and ran a LOT cooler w/LESS detonation:cool:

AFC357 and BLOWN375 which version of the M5 are they. Do the have the X3 rotors or the earlier ones? I highly recommend a gel be used in all Rootes blowers. It would seem to me that in the process of making any blower into a tighter seal and more boost that one would have more wear. Also the more boost you have the more heat you are going to generate. In a M5 I was working we were seeing the air charge in the manifold right at 125*F at the end of the run.

Using a gel lube really helps all Roots, but wear and temperature are also affected by much fuel is going through the blower and where and how it is injected.

    Gel & Tractor pull application

In a tractor pulling application, do you think dirt trapped in the "Gel" would cause a "lapping" compound and cause more wear?

In tractor pulling do you throw dirt up in the front also? If so you would think a screen or thind rock catching filter would be great.

I have not noticed this "lapping", but I usually run MPR air filters.

We had a very early model, Kobelco case...I'm sure improvements have been made. It was a thing of beauty, made a bunch at the hit. We were over 200deg!FYI - used PLENTY of lube!

Wow, 200*F that is way way hot. That takes all the power out of the motor. That actually changes the density altitude inside the motor. What percentage of fuel was in the hat versus the ports?

    Wow, 200*degrees...
You leave "some" H.P. on the table.
you will find that your combinaison will be "more than happy" if you "fine tune" your intake charge and find the right one for your own set-up.
Also, beware of your boost pressure which become a very bad "guide" to work with, at thoses degrees.
Did you had some burst plate explosion or mechanical issue with that temp.?

Screw blowers will be down around 115-120* F. If you turn a Rootes blower too fast (with too much OD) then the temps can go sky high so you you are not gaining any power with all that boost especially if at 200*. Sometimes less OD means lowers temps and lower boost but more power.

My SSI is at 39% over and at end of run , manifold air temp is 125* . Not the killer boost #'s but it outruns a lot of newer more expensive units .

To compare air temp numbers we need to relate them to ambient. What we are looking for is the number of degrees increase in the blower.

My davenport modified K11 made 41.9 at 9050 rpm in top gear on a 6.31 227 with some pedaling (45 degree track temp)

this a known logger its been used with 3 different blowers now early M5 being one of them
im fairly confident when we get a good track and can run faster it will see late 42 psi the curve was still climbing rapidly, this is a badass blower

    good numbers Adam
diddnt see where you said it was 8000,

I had one of the first M5,s and tbh it realy wasnt that good,
I dont mean it was bad just that it diddnt live up to all the hype,

Iv heard the later ones are better but we dont see that in europe on cars that run this blower,
    and there are a few,

the fastest blowers here are the davenport and the hammer modded K11's
but its all bs regarding ets cause nothing we do here is anywhere like what you guys do
did you ever drive on a 45 degree track with a 8.3 degree C ambient, Humidity at 83% and a 20 mph headwind any sensible team would pack up and go home:rolleyes:

Many big name US stars have come here over the years to show us how its done and most have gone home with their tail between their legs and that list includes Garlits

has your racing season started? I see your in oz how come your on a roots ?
i thought Screws were allowed there,

is this a pm/td car got any pics

    Cheers
