These studs in the intake ports are a new thing to me, as are the 17 total head studs. Man these things are awesome!

I am assuming the valley studs stay with the heads when I remove them? If so, is it just a matter of removing the nuts in the lifter valley?

Secondly, where can I get the torque sequence/procedure for pulling the heads?

Thanks again for your help. This is funner than hell to me.

nuts come off, studs stay in heads.

little ones off, then start at the outside and take them off, working your way in.

Before you put the heads back on make sure the studs are screwed tight into the heads. If not, it will be time-sert time in no time.

also when putting heads back on use a very little silicon around the oil feed holes one on each side ..silicon head gasket then silicon again..(USE VERY VERY LITTLE)...... THEN I run a small bead at the bottom and up the sides of the heads..Dave

I appreciate the re-assembly advice. There was no silicone on these when I pulled them off, and they were indeed seeping a little.

On the topic of gaskets, is it typical to replace the head gasket each time the heads are pulled?

Also, I noticed on the ends of the heads, there are little square blocks, or plugs, held in by a small screw. They form part of the valve cover rail. What purpose do they serve?

dont have to replace head gaskets and for the little blocks they are were the fuel rail ran through the heads wih jumper lines that went to the down nozzels that is what the small pipe plugs in the heads were for also..Dave Lowe

Do most people plug or run those down nozzles?
