I have a truck tarp and a pit mat (not for sale). The pit mat is without a doubt better. It's much heavier and mine has lasted for 3 years and still in excellent condition. No need to stake a pit mat down but you better stake a tarp down. Hope this helps.

    Pitmat

The pitmat is well worth the extra money. Unless you lose a fight with a chop saw or something, I think the pitmat will last you a long, long time. We even caught ours on fire at one race, you can't even tell where the fire was. It's not going to instantly melt if a clutch part hits it, etc.

    pit mat

I have had my pit mat for three or four years now. I honestly can't remember when I bought it. Without a doubt it has been the longest lasting piece of pit equipment that I have ever bought. I could not be happier with it. Well worth the cost, dresses up your pit space, no more laying in the gravel, easy to clean up and very very durable. Dave Germain

    Pit mats

How do they last up agains regular jack stands(I mean the non rounded bottoms of the feet, Ya know?) and jacks. How about the pro jacks.
Break clean and what not that we spill and trip, drop, drag, and throw down.

    Pit Mats

My projacks haven't ever caused any problem with the pitmat. Neither does spilled alcohol or oil. Brake Clean doesn't bother it either. I can't speak for the sharp edges on jack stands but I don't know anybody using jack stands. Most guys have some sort of a fabricated stand that is more stable than jack stands. Dave Germain
