    Bob's Bio
    Robert Lupini
Likes to be known as Bob

Bob came to WMATA in May of 1981, as a Helper with an extensive background in automotive repair.
He moved up the ranks in Bus Maintenance to “A” Mechanic, “AA Automotive Specialist” , Supervisor, and became Lead-Person in the Service Vehicle Maintenance Shop. In 1999, Bob felt a need to pass on his knowledge and experience to his present and future co-workers and that goal he set for himself is where he is today.
Bob is one of WMATA’s Maintenance Training Instructors training today’s mechanics for tomorrow’s technology.
On that note, Bob is one of less then 50 people in the U.S.A. with 9 different Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Certifications.
Bob Lupini has raced from the time he got his driver's license. He started out racing street-cars, then evolved to motorcycles, stock cars, a 200 MPH fuel altered and now, dragsters and funny cars. When he ran late model stock cars in NASCAR in the 1980's, he finished in the top 50 out of 400 in 1987. In the mid-1990's, Bob drag raced with the "HOT RODS FROM HELL" 200-MPH Altered show. With his rear engine dragster, Bob was 2000 runner-up at 75-80 Dragway in Class 1. In 1999, he was the East Coast Super Comp Champion. Over the years, Bob has amassed numerous wins at 75-80 Dragway, Mason-Dixon Dragway and Maryland International Raceway. He also developed a self-admitted ego problem - he liked to be the fastest car at the track! While Bob is a very accomplished drag racer, "ego" may be a strong word - truthfully, Bob has turned his competitive nature and winning edge into the firmly grounded and highly involved Lupini Family Racing Team! The Lupini family includes two very determined kids - Anthony and Amanda. Each of them boasts that they are students first, Moto X next. In addition to winning Moto X racing competitions, each also wants to be a skateboard champion! Anthony likes to go fast and win - like his Dad! Sporting his Suzuki Z-400 entry. Anthony says his parents have always supported him as long as he keeps his good grades and racing has taught him to be a good sport in winning and in losing. He has been on the Honor Roll almost every report card. He played on two first place football teams and was an all-star in 1999 and 2003. He likes all X game types of sports and he is a very good skateboard stunt rider. Amanda likes to go fast on her Yamaha 4 wheeler and race her brother on his dirt motorcycle. She is a member of the Cheerleading all-star Team in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004, 2005 and 2006. Amanda has reached the Honor Roll with straight "A's" on every report card. She believes she can do anything and do it well.all Debi Fisher-Lupini, Bob's wife, holds MBA and CPA designations and is the team's manager. Her extensive knowledge is an integral part of the team's finances. The Lupini Family Racing They have been featured in publications like Drag Racing USA, National Dragster, Hot Rod, Drag Review, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's magazine
