Wheel was not installed and or torque properly. competitonplus.com has a story on Tasca's and Wilkerson's wheel problems.

Unless there's a rules revision I'm not aware of, there legal for Alcohol Funny or Dragster. Not legal for FC or TF only.

I feel for the crew member(s) who didnt torque the wheel studs properly as Tim Wilkerson reported. As the guy who was reponsible for all things from the midplate back in a TAFC as I was, all the what ifs when something goes wrong start coming to mind. When I was working on John Pattons car and he wadded it up in Sonoma I started wondering was it something did wrong. I knew I had everything right ( wheels torqued right, circumfrences within a 1/16 on the slicks etc ) but you still tend to second guess yourself.

Im my case Johns car finaly found itself a place to park as Randy Anderson told us at a race once. There wasnt anything else wrong mechanicaly. Just a lot of horsepower and a tricky track.

We all make mistakes and those guys on Wilks crew should remember that. None of us are perfect.

They are legal for top alky....but why would you want to run such a brittle material for wheel studs? the weight loss couldn't be worth the saftey factors.

Yep, they are illegal (for TF/FC) per my 09 rule book.

    Good call...
