I noticed that alot of cars with Screw blowers, put a hole in one of their injector blades. I assume this is for more air, but why not just open up the blades a little bit? Is there another reason for it?

    Blades

Lonnie I Think Mostly If The Car Is Not Idling High Enough At The Starting Line Or Sounding To Rich You Can Pull A Piece Of Tape Off The Blade And Speed It Up A Little

Why all the fixed holes in the blades, rather than a few SMC fittings drilled into the hat with removeable nibs? Sorry, just confused.....

John, Why exactly do people do it. To lean the motor out before staging, because lack of heat??? How is it different from a roots setup?

    Blade holes

Path of least resistance for the air ? The blower vacuum will draw thru the holes, reduces the blade edges from freezing and allows for better spool control/leakage . some BV's will allow separate idle controls that do not affect the spool and visa versa .

    Icing

the blade edges will freeze up and cause sticky throttles and the holes don't seem to ice up as much. If the motor seems a little fat on idle the crew chief can open the holes- take the tape off or pull the plastic plugs and lean it a little also.

Thats so the mouse running the blower doesnt suffer from lack of oxygen at idle.

Someone told me i got too many holes on the butterflys. I was thinking 1-2 more though and she'd run some 5.20's with the a/fuel cars. :D

    Yes More Holes !!

You need more holes !! it will get the weight of the car down so you can compete with the Afuels . It should also be easier to drive you won't have to push the gas pedal at all to hit stage rpm. But to all great things there is 1 downside you may have to carry spare rotors (may have happened ??) , 'cause it will be ingesting the sponsor signage from the walls as you stage the car ........ and that will in turn Knock out 1 or both of the "Secret Squirrels":D .
