Getting ready 4 next season,on my freshen up I would like to go to a solid BBC aluminum block. I currently run a merlin PRO CAST IRON/NICKLE block 10.2 deck have alot of great passes on it. Over 300 total since 1st put together...knock on wood..havent broke anything. Really hate to change anything but I figure I can save over 140 lbs. just on the block! any input would be helpful thanx DiscoDean

In my humble opinion CN is the best. New Century is a great bunch of people and will work with you. My experience with Lowell Bodenbach at New Century was outstanding. He bent over backwards to help!

This decision really depends on how much thump you are trying to throw to it. Many guys have gone to the CN stuff because they are pushing the cast blocks past their limits. If you are trying to run 5.60's in a chevy funny car, then definitely CN. The dart billet is good too, but I think CN is better at a better price. But if you want good strength and some weight loss, but are not throwing the kitchen sink at the tune-up, then there are lots of options and money savers. New Century stuff is great. The merlin and the brodix are not bad if you are not throwing tons at it. It appears to be a top dragster application from the picture. If so, then any of the bottom three would be great. If you are trying TAD, stick with the billet.

    CN Block

Hi ! We spent a lot of time last year searching for the best BBC block that money could buy. Chose CN and we are 100% happy. No bearing problems, super-sealed cylinders, perfect engineering. The only thing to be aware of is that CN does not cost $7700. That price is without any optional items, and it does not come with cam bearings, lifter sleeves, cam journal end cover, head stud kit, o-ringing, notching, honing or anything. And CN does not tell you that until you have signed an order. Ended up paying $9600. AND; they did not deliver in time. We waited for 9 months before they finally delivered. Just to help you realize facts.
    Best regards from Norway. www.craftsmanverktoy.com

For the money the Century blocks are very nice for what the majority needs. CN has a large name following as of late and a attractive product, but you are paying for that as well.
