does a whipple react more like a roots or a psi when it comes to fuel lean outs
i know most psi screws do not use high speed lean outs and roots use lean outs but what about the whipple 980 it is a screw just does not use as much overdrive as psi do most guys run lean outs or none on the whipple
    thanks

    lean out

with our set up we add fuel using our high speeds... start way rich and work your way back ...

    Hey Eli!!!

Eli, This sounds like what you were suggesting to do with the Roots blowers. Take what fuel is removed with the high speed lean out and add it to another spot , like the top of the blower.
Hope this didn't mess up the thread!

The fuel requirements of a Rootes blower are totally different from a PSI or Whipple screw blower because of the inefficiency of a Roots blower and the efficiency of a screw blower. According to Norm Drazy, the overall efficiency -- mechanical, volumetric and adiabatic -- of the Rootes begins at 40 percent and drops off to 20 percent at the end of a run. Drazy says his PSI maintains an overall efficiency of 60 percent throughout the run. So based on this you can see the difference in fuel requirements.

Treat your fuel system for the whipple the same as a PSI. I run normally open metered solinoids that time close on timers to put more fuel to the whipple at the top of 1st and 2nd gear.
