I have been running a small block injected dragster on alcohol and have started to run small amounts of nitro as well ! I run an MSD 7AL 3 box with a 2 amp coil ! I started at 13 percent and the car picked up about a tenth and now have gone to 25 percent with really no gain at all ! With an 84 jet the plugs show on the lean side yet going to an 80 jet shows no change at all ! I tried a little more timing from 34 to 36 and no change at all ! Could it be that my ignition is not putting out enough ? Thanks Bill !

Or now could be the best time to buy a mag. Used to be a $6000 investment. Hell I’ve seen whole setups now for $2000. You’re gonna end up upgrading sooner or later anyways ? The rage is all the coil over plug stuff. People can’t give away mag setups.

Nitro really has a slow burn rate so the more you add the more timing you have to add. The question is how much. Also a main jet change of only 4 sizes in truly insignificant with methanol and even more with nitro. Pure nitro has a 1:1 AFR so the more you add the richer it needs to go. Also what sparkplug gap are you using? It needs to be down around .015 because the more fuel you add the more liquid in the chamber and the harder it is to ignite

Have you talked to Spud Miller at Fuel Injection Enterprises? Hes very good with that exact combo and has some really good reads on his website called "Nitro Notes".

Bill get off some of that money and buy you a mag.You will be wondering what took you so long to do it. I would sale you one of mine but they rotate wrong way for you ,plus then I would not have backup and no backup means break one you have.

Mike I have the plugs closed up to .018 ! If my ignition is weak will it just not burn all of the fuel or can it cause other problems like detonation ? I am sending the fuel system out to be flowed to make shure that it is ok ! I was also told that an electronic ignition has a shorter duration spark than a mag !

I would close the gap up to .015 and try it. Will not detonate but may feel the missing when going down track. If you are not burning all the mixture then your EGTs will be low and the plugs will show rich
