I am tossing up the idea of adding a load cell on the right upper bar on my single wheelie bar. I’m just wondering if it’s going to work properly if both the upper bars are connected together like an H midway on the upper bars? This is a Tommy Mauney Pro-Mod chassis with a outlaw 10.5 tire on it for what it’s worth. Any thoughts?

if it's a single bar McKinney sells a pull sensor to go on bottom bar.

What does the output of wheelie bar sensors look like on the datalogger? Can the force incrementals be set and graphed over time?

My wheelie bar sensor is a racepack load cell which is a hydraulic piston/cylinder that is on the end of the upper right bar on the housing. Wheelie bar pressure is applied it puts compression on the piston like a brake master cylinder does and there is a psi sensor on it to see just how hard it hits and for how long in a log. My car has holley efi so this will just be wn0-5v Input to my computer and set up in the data as a 0-3000psi sensor. It will be logged along with everything else going on in the entire operating system.

My single wheelie bar mounts to the rear end housing with 4 attachment points like a regular wheelie bar, not just one on the bottom, so the pull one won’t be much more of a benefit than the racepack upper bar transducer

Chris, the pressure is measured in pounds and you can zero it with no load. The Racepak will display a graph showing lbs over time. The only time you will see anything is in the first .75 seconds.

Hi Mike, why is the first .75 the only time you will see anything?

Your wheelie bar better not be in contact with the track after launch period because if it is you are going to unload the chassis and take weight off the slicks

You will usually get a short initial hit, followed by a longer secondary hit and possibly a third ride. That all happens well before the 60'. Here are a few videos of us at Atco a few years back that show it well.

Great video Chris but that car has a solid rear suspension and acts just a little different than a suspended Promod.

Are you ready for more snow tonight?

You could still put it in line at some point on the single bar. Doesn't have to attach to chassis.
