Sacramento Raceway is still selling it for $7/gallon.

I wish it has came down.

    Methanol Cost

I just bought a 55 gallon drum about 2 weeks ago from Racecar Engineering in Lakeland, Fl. for $240, which is about $4.36 or $4.37 a gallon. 4 months ago it was $272 for the drum. It has come down in price, even though it has not been a "dramatic" decrease.

    prices & labels

obviously price gouging reigns in alky as well as nitro. Don't worry about name brands. VP,Torco, or Sunoco do not make methanol. Various race fuels dealers buy off barges in Houston,Wilmington,NC and elsewhere. what you are looking for is purity. Fuel grade methanol should be 99.95 pure. Engines prefer fuel over water. Check out how your supplier handles his product. when i had the fuel business, I never stored methanol in bulk tanks, only in drums. I also layered each drum with nitrogen to keep out moisture. In 25 years, my methanol never flunked NHRA fuel check.

    get the best

up here in the northwest I sell VP. as of today a 54gl drum will cost you 350.00 there is a washington tax in that as well. the generic goes for 275 a drum. the difference is the bulk-used drum or VPs way of a new lined drum each time. yeah its more expensive. but its alot cleaner. I get a kick outta guys that will spend thousands each weekend to run, but bitch about fuel costs. please guys, its a very small cost of what we do. you spend more on spark plugs per run. :D I gave up drinking cheap whiskey years ago, cheap women is another story.;)

The 180.00 a drum is from a local chemical distributor, Superior. Used there Methanol on and off for years. We buy fuel at the IHRA nats to avoid a fuel check issue.

TeeGarden Motorsports in Sacramento is still soaking racers for 5.50 a gallon. I no longer purchase from them. I tryed to work a deal on buying 4 drums, and they wouldn't budge on the super inflated prices. They explained that is what they purchase it for. Ok, really? 1. I'm not dumb (close though), you have mark up, and 2. if you are getting raped that hard, maybe it's time to get a new supplier!

You've got to be kidding me. Because we spend more on spark plugs we should pay inflated prices for fuel? Generic fuel is under $200. $150 more for a liner in a drum painted blue seems a little high to me.
