Just heard from someone at the track that a crew member of the Frank Schuster driven FC was involved in an accident along the return road.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the team and his family...

    Got this off of DRC

Both drivers had their cars started and Tasca had done his burnout when a crew member fell off the back of a pickup truck that was travelling down the return road. Race officials decided to call an end to racing this evening while the crew member was transported to an area hospital. Qualifying for the Top Alcohol Funny Car field will be completed tomorrow

This is very sad news, The crew member that passed away yesterday evening was Scott MacIlvane who posted on this board as Scotty Mac. As I understand it this was a freak accident that could have happened to any one of us who work on these cars. Scott was a super friendly and well respected gentleman and I as well as the rest of the racing community will miss him greatly. My prayers go out to his family, and the entire Terenzio Bros. team. We've lost another good one, Godspeed Scotty my friend!

I just got back from Virginia, a very sad day for sure. We were qualifying. side by side against Frank Schuster/Terenzio Bros.TAF with John Headley driving the Headley Baker TAF. The accident occured just after the run on the return road on their way to retrieve the car at the end of the track. Yes it could happen to any of us and no one is at fault!! The body pole simply moved against the starter causing sparks to fly in the back of the truck. This caused a natural reaction for Scotty Mac to jump and fall off the truck. He hit his head on the pavement. We are all grieving his passing. He lived drag racing and was a major force on the Terenzio team. Even in his passing he helped another drag racer, in fact he saved a life. The Medovac copter landed within minutes to transport Scotty Mac. At that very time the driver of the East Coast Electric TAF developed a heart attack and the Medovac took him to the hospital instead, because Scotty had passed. The hospital was too far away for an ambulace to get there in time but the copter got there , and they performed an emergency stint in time saving his life. My sincere condolences to the all of the families and friends involved and God Speed to you Scotty. Goldy

To read the very sad news about SCOTTY was to say the least shocking. To SCOTY'S FAMILY & FRIENDS,FRANK SCHUSTER,GENE TERENIZIO,& their WHOLE CREW our deepest condolences from the LOURIE RACING TEAM.I alway talk about going into a fellow racers pit and feeling welcome.SCOTTY was one of those people that made you feel that way. When we had the good times after the day's racing SCOTTY was there.Win or not HE was also a bright spot.GENE TERENIZIO,his brother ANTOHNY and I go way back to the old days of DOVER DRAG STRIP & CONNECTICUT DRAGWAY In that time we have met a ton of nice people in this sport,SCOTTY was one of them.We all know that when we take part in this sport that we are pushing the envelope. It is in the back of our minds, but we just won't admit it.I believe that SCOTTY has now taken on a bigger job.He now has to look down and try to keep us all a little safer.REST IN PEACE SCOTTY MAC.

    Rip

    This is terrible news.

We've lost a lot of friends on and off the track the past few years.

Just as in any other death at the track, in some ways it could be considered a blessing that he died doing what he loved. Schuster had just made a career best pass the first run, so I'm sure they were having a good day.

After seeing him post here for a while, I finally had the pleasure of meeting Scotty in Gainesville and had corresponded with him several times on the site and email. I always enjoy meeting people from the site.

I'm glad I got to meet him while he was here.

I'd like to send out my condolences to the MacIlvane family, the Terenzio family and all of his friends in Div. 1.

Godspeed my friend, and you will be missed. RIP.

On behalf of Victor Terenzio, my wife Debbie and daughter Stephanie, and our crew- Peter Maple, Jack Palmer, Peter Sorbo, and Nick Sarantos, I would like to thank all who called, emailed, posted, and prayed for us during this tragic time. I would also like to thank everyone at the track who came to our aid and supported us through everything. The racing community support is helping us to get through this great loss.
Scotty Mac was very dedicated to everything in his life. From his family and friends to the racing. He leaves behind wonderful memories and a large void that only he could fill. We will forever miss him !
Please keep his wife Maria and his 3 young daughters in your prayers.

Scotty Mac will be laid to rest on Wednesday.

Scotty will be missed immensely. As dedicated as they come to my Uncles Team. An easy going, easy to get along with kind of person that would help you out at the drop of a dime. Our deepest condolences from all of us on The Terenzio & Lionetti crew.

    Scotty Mac

Thank You Everyone, for your thoughts, prayers and recogntion of the total effort my FRIEND Scotty Mac put into everything he did; Husband, Father, softball player, bowler, car cruiser and TAFC Crewman (Bottom end Specialist).
He was a friend to everyone, and an irreplaceable member of Our race team. Scott drove the team the way Frank drives the car, All out / All the way! But to me he was the Brother I never had!
On behalf of my family, Helena, Marcello and myself I wish to express Our most Heartfelt sympathies to his wife Maria, and daughters Nicole, Jennifer and Kristen; all of his family and friends.

    GOD BLESS YOU SCOTTY MAC

    Love Peter Maple
