    weight

I run a rear engined dragster, 270in wheelbase, blown all alum. big chevy with all carbon fiber body (spitzer). I weigh 165lbs and the car with me in it weighs 1940lbs ready to race. That being said I think, depending, on how much you weigh that sounds just about right. May be able to get it lighter but it may cost alot. However, net weight does not matter as much as you think as long as its not 5 or 6 hundred lbs. I know of several of my friends with dragsters that weigh close to 2200lbs that are real quick. Having the lbs. in the right place is far more important than just being light. Regards Jody Stroud

In 1976 I had a funny car chassis altered built for me with a 23 "T" body from Roger McKracken that weight 18 pounds out of the mold. It was mounted funny car style (tilt, take off).

I had a 530 CI Arias hemi cast iron block and aluminum heads, collector headers, 400 turbo, small battery, two dominator carbs with a Ron Butler scoop and a small fiberglass radiator shell. It weighed 1,550 without me in it.

Still feel it was one of the nicest altered I have ever seen. Steve Reyes did a 3 full page spread on it in Popular Hot Rodding. It was sold to Evan Rodrick in El Paso Texas in 1984. After a handshake agreement to repurchase the car and get it back in 1990 he raced it one more time and proceeded to suff it into the concrete wall where it barrell rolled six times. The car gave it's life to save his.

Many thanks for all the replies, appreciate it, we can easily get some weight out of the car, the body we use take 3 of us to lift on, must be 200-250lbs alone.
