I have a bae block with 5 fat heats bae high ratio rockers, about 2 years ago I changed the exhuast valves with new square cut keepers and went to manley lash locks .About 10 runs later I keept loosing lash so I pulled the springs and the locks were moving up the stems, the springs were installed at 2.100 with 475psi on the seat and were not in coil bind.So I bought a new set of victory titanium exhuast valves and went to bead locks with the manley lash locks ,now I have 8 passes on them and there doing the same thing with one valve and I haven't pulled the rest of the spring to look at the others yet .
It seems that every pass I loose about .002 clearence that when I start to worry ,the car is a altered with a 540ci and a lencodrive and we only spin the motor 8500 rpms .So why am I having this problem ,I've checked the clearence between the cap and the stem with the keepers on and I seems to be about .001 to .002 thousands

When it "moves up the stem" is the groove on the stem getting beat out, or is the ring on the keeper moving - essentially shearing off?

Are they the all in one style or separate lash cap with a ridge to hold it ? The all in one style will beat the groove in the valve and cause this problem. As soon as the valve leaves the seat there is no pressure on the keeper groove, When the valve closes all the spring pressure hits the groove and it acts like a jack hammer on the groove.

To answer both questions the keepers and lash caps are 3 pieces not 2 and the keepers are fine its beating up the grove in the valve

You can’t interchange them. Manley stuff doesn’t work on victory stuff. And victory locks will work on Manley valves, same goes for the retainers. Pac retainers with Manley locks bite into the titanium at the bottom of the retainer. I ran into that and junked a set of valves. Sent it to victory for examination and that what I was told. Manley locks are that nice. The retainer will show heavy wear too I bet if you look close enough.
Went to victory locks cap with Pac springs and Manley valves no issues anymore

Talked to Victory yesterday and they told me that I wish I would have known that before 3 sets of valves, did talk to Manley about it and they said the motor had been over reved.

so Manley's essentially admitting that their locks won't hold up at the RPMs we typically run a Hemi at? Nice to know after I just put a set of them on my heads....
